  1. Another lovely morning here....a few bits and pieces of cloud in the sky, but otherwise another lovely summer morning. Already nudging 21c.
  2. It does seem uncanny that the seasonal models in spring showed low pressure out to the W/SW of the UK being a prominent feature of the summer, and already through June it has been a major factor. Will it be a rinse and repeat job over the bulk of summer?
  3. ECM showing low pressure getting in through the weekend and turning things more unsettled into early next week. Western areas closer to the low look likely to receive more rain than the east: Perhaps more ominously on the 00z run is another ridge and push of heat building over Western Europe on day 10 combined with another stalled low. Looks plumey a day or two after:
  4. Models this morning holding the trough out west until Monday at least - which in turn just feeds more very warm and humid air our way. GFS has the rain breaking through on Tuesday, GEM at the same time has almost nothing.....which means the much used word 'uncertainty' comes into play once again. After today's thunderstorms it should be a fine summery week for the vast majority, with temperatures well above average.
  5. Fantastic day here. 31c and missed all the storms, just blue skies and hot sunshine. Making up for the crud a week or two again!
  6. I’d be surprised to see 33c. Think we’re squeezing every drop of heat out of this set up as possible! It’s unusual to see 32c so early in June as it is
  7. Live Weather Top Twenty - Highs and Lows - Netweather.tv WWW.NETWEATHER.TV Lakenheath already showing 30c at 11am. If the cloud stays away then 32c is probably incoming like yesterday.
  8. Agree with others thoughts - troughing slowly getting closer in a weeks time, but how far will it make it? Everything has been so slow in the last month, it wouldn’t really surprise anyone if it stalls again. A very good week of summer weather for many before this though, flaming June rather than June monsoon this year it would seem…
  9. Already 30c in Lakenheath, not far off here either. Roasting. Just feels more sultry today, much greater chance of storms.
  10. Yep - was just going to say the weather station in Chertsey has runways around all four sides and jets taking off all day. No way it could have got to 32c otherwise.
  11. What do you expect? Would anyone feel comfortable stood outside in 30c heat in a thick uniform and hat, regardless of their age or fitness?
  12. Summer has only been going for 10 days! Give it a chance….June is going to be miles above average by next weekend.
  13. Looks really uncomfortable with that 35% humidity!
  14. 27c at 11am…30c looks a shoe in? UKV leading the way here
  15. Already 25c here at 10am, the first properly hot summer feeling day too as the easterly wind finally disappears. Looking like we will probably see 30c somewhere that keeps the sun all day.
  16. Fair play to the UKV - smashed it out of the park today. Spot on. Gives you confidence for the days ahead
  17. Glad you've got some sun mate. We've managed to get rid of the clag the last few days and it's been great. Hopefully the last of it for a little while! Nice to see most places in blue skies today. Been a remarkable spell of weather.....especially out west.
  18. Still a lot of different forecasts for the next few days temperature wise....UKV still way higher than the rest. A quick look at Saturday: GFS 29c ARPEGE 29c Arome 30c UKV 32c
  19. Obviously keeping the faith with the UKV! Let's see how it unfolds...
  20. It could be over-egging the 850 temperatures then? GFS and ECM are showing more like 13c. Does it have a warm temperature bias? I remember on the 40c day last year it showed 42-43c when other models tended to stick around 39-40/41c.
  21. I'm still very dubious about these temps that UKV is showing. None of the other models are even remotely close to that. Most show something around 28c on Saturday. Is there a fault with the UKV?? Unusual to see them so far apart at 2 days lead time.
  22. You only have to look at the GFS cloud forecast from the 6z run today for 3pm....to see how rubbish it is. Compare it to the visible current satellite and you can see it's way off.
  23. GFS has near total cloud cover so temperatures are really held back. I wouldn't trust it either for stuff like storms, it's fine handling frontal bands of rain, but the hi res models are much better as you say.
  24. Looking at the UKV for Saturday and Sunday...King's Lynn should be among the warmer spots. The warmer stuff is on the way!
  25. Sorry to my fellow east of England folks further north than me.....the clag has burned off here today, and we now have a lovely afternoon to enjoy. Further up into the NE it's the same old story. Ghastly cloud yet again.
