The long journey to misery and hell begins,can't wait for that 4am sun to come bursting through to wake me up to another day of sore eyes and sneezing! Just love that time of year,much prefer it to a comfortable nights sleep and feeling well rested!

Little taste of winter at last today,love the frost and freshness of the morning walk,won't last though,better make the most of it. This winter will go down as probably one of the most miserable on record.

Totally agree,its the current situation that is important,not some silly discussion as to whom had the worst experience in years gone past.So pointless

I fully retract the first part of this statement,this winter is stuck in this pattern for the foreseeable,think we say this winter will be remembered for all the wrong reasons!

Fingers crossed i could have been wrong about this winter,things are appearing to be a bit more positive,general trends seem to becoming more established,we need our seasons to be seasons and that includes summer(even though i am a total wimp and can't stand heat!!). Me thinks our weather must surely be the most complex and diverse in the world but getting stuck in any rut like we have been seems to be getting more common year on year.

Really starting to feel this winter will go down as a epic failure for cold lovers and total misery to those effected by the floods,can't see anything in the up coming charts apart from straw clutching to change my mind. Not a good situation at all.

Very much agree,dry calm weather is a must for these regions,thoughts must be with these people now,especially at this time of year.

Disagree about the wildlife,nature needs a balance to work properly,this mild weather is throwing that balance out,its much more complicated than i think any of us really understand. We do need the frost and colder conditions,that is a fact.

Shorts on for walk to shops...boxing day!!! This pattern has to change,wildlife could be in big trouble if it doesn't. Least i've still not had the heating on this winter so far so thats a positive!

Christmas day again on my own isn't made any better by miserable weather! Feel so sorry for the people in the north west,hope they can have some sort of good christmas.

Sorry,don't get statement at all,its a season thing,surely we should enjoy each season as a individual event,enjoying what ever it brings.

This is slowly driving mad,15c at 8:20 am! How much more vile can it get,wouldn't mind if the sun was out but this dros is unbearable!

very much agree with you about the all types of weather,thats what makes our weather so interesting! fully understand how the older generation don't like the cold!! I've been watching this site for a few years now before i took the plunge to join and i must say your input has been one one of the resaons i joined. May not agree with some of your views but always enjoy them!

My location is top end of north sheffield,location is fantastic for enjoying the weather,20mile views in clear weather,much better weather in the winter months,by far the best season!

Because this is the time of year when everything is taken back to its bare basics,the air is so much fresher,everything is just so more so much more enjoyable and no way uncomfortable,walking is a joy,visibility is so much better,i live high up and during the summer months my usual walk is spoilt by poor visibility and humidity,totally beyond me why people prefere a hot sticky walk to a comfortable crisp walk,will never ever get that!

Thats one of the very positive things about us humans,we all have our different likes and dislikes,everybody to their own. Must say that sunrise this morning as one of many we've had like that,very lucky me thinks.

What a wonderful sunrise in sheffield,love,love this time of year,what could be better than setting off to work to be greeted by nature at her best,so much better than those awful summer months of misery being woken up at a stupid time by blazing sunshine! Makes ones day so much more bearable and less taxing. May it continue for a few more months at least before the decent into misery.

East facing bedrooms are a pain,waking up at just after 4am with the sun streaming in is not on!! Much,much prefere the comfort of a dark morning,sleep a lot better in the winter months,feel washed out in the summer,total opposite of yourself!

Oh roll on those happy times,that early morning sun waking you up from a night of little sleep in the heat,the joy of hearing those birds at 4am,the pure anticipation of the first sneeze of the day followed by a day of eye watering,eye rubbing enjoyment of hay fever,the smell of the traffic fumes through the open windows. Can't wait,such a lovely time of year......Not

One humid night is one to many in my opinion! Loving the cooler weather on the horizon,long may it last for!

Dreading those hot humid nights,defeats me why anybody enjoys it! At least now one can get a good nights sleep!!
