  1. Completley agree with you regarding the pre-payment scandal, should have been put a stop to long before now. It is disgusting how the energy companies have been acting regarding this. It is just corporate greed to satisfy shareholders that has led to this. Really hope your bill isn't as bad as you fear!
  2. Totally agree with your costings for the over 65's,just wish in my area more people like your good self could make use of them!, as 'i am under 65 my local council swimming pool is so expensive i wouldn't dream of going. I know 2003 was a extreme but just wanted to make a point that heat will be of just a problem as cold, its a lot lot easier to warm up than cool down. Sorry that is just a plain fact. 2003 was a killer and i think may be repeated very soon sadly.
  3. The air con needs venting,so either a drilled large hole or a window open with the vent pipe put through are the two options.Think you may be thinking of a air cooler, not the same thing.
  4. Each to their own,but i really hate the summer hot days and nights, totally knackers me out not sleeping and with my work being over 90f plus all year round the relief of winter is heaven. As for the annual cull,i think you'll find that a heatwave will cause so much more distress and fatalities. As for swimming pools, very expensive and local lakes none so not a option!
  5. Got one recently! Thanks for the tip. I live on a busy main road so the choice is either heat no noise or windows open and less heat and noise and fumes! Hopefully the heat will stay off till high summer, don't mind that to much, its where the warmth should be and people who enjoy that type of weather can have their fill!
  6. Here's hoping for a nice and cold Easter, winters last fling before the boredom of summer is upon us. There will be plenty of time in the up coming months for those sleepless nights of heat to torment me so one last goodbye to the good times would be nice!
  7. Very very true, lot of ramping about those mild temps, not going to happen just yet but they will so it will be the warmth chasers turn soon too enjoy the chase of their weather! Everybody to there own,we may not understand why but should certainly except there point of view even if we don't agree!
  8. Looking like single figure temp's next week by me to a happy chap. Here's to a cool spring followed by a normal summer,no extremes!!
  9. Totally agree,i love sitting outside a country pub on a cool evening,15c would be perfect. Never will this get this love of the heat/humidity side of the uk weather, thankfully the current way our weather is progressing this type of weather may well become more and more infrequent. As for sweating thats just weird how anybody could enjoy a day like that especially when your working

  11. One good thing to come out of this vile mild pathetic winter is my fuel bill, only had the central heating on 3 times and for less than 2hrs on each occasion,so out of every misery comes some ray of light!
  12. Fingers crossed it is not so,our wildlife depends on this time of year, much better to have a warm spring followed by a cool summer.
  13. Looks like this could be the last really fresh enjoyable weekend for a bit now, looks like the return to mild atlantic driven crap is well and truely on the cards, very depressing. The thought of summer is not something i ever look forward to,3/4 months of continual hay fever is very unpleasant. Counting the days till septemberish time, much more pleasant.
  14. Nice drive home through North Derbyshire, came down into Hope Valley, should be renamed little Switzerland today! Truely beautiful if a bit hairy on the road, much more what winter should be about, loved, loved it! How people could dislike such stunning views as what i've seen today is beyond me. This is proper weather, something that literally takes your breath away.
  15. Disagree strongly i'm afraid,2008-12 period was a colder time in the uk but the worldwide affects didn't mirror this, the change has occured, like it or not our climate will change beyond anything any of us will have ever expected, sorry to say any less is basically wrong.
  16. I think it's time to wake up and smell the coffee, global warming is here,i've been on the road with my job for over 30 years, things have and are changing at a frighting rate. We have a lot to answer for.
  17. Oh one would so wish!! I'll be voting out then!!!
  18. When i ment cool summer i was talking about temps in mid 20's and no awful so called spanish plumes which imo are possibly the worst aspect of the uk weather,so uncomfortable and make your working day a real pain. This time of year weather like this makes for so much more usable weather if the atlantic crap keeps its place well away from our shore!
  19. At least we are having a extended spell of much more pleasant colder conditions, long may it continue. Lovely crisp walk,so much more refreshing to the stinking warmth of summer, everything seems just so much more cleaner and enjoyable. Here's to a cool summer with only the odd hot spell, that would be perfect.
  20. Disagree totally,no idea why you can't see the change which has occurred and will continue. I've been on the road with my job for over 30 years now and can assure you in the last 20 years the weather i have encounted has changed markedly and to say its getting tiresome imo is just nonsense, our weather has changed and will continue to evolve into a far different climate than any of us would have thought. You obviously missed the point of my last post by a country mile.
  21. Fully agree with you,the phrase 'used to' in terms of our weather is a very misguided phrase. Our weather is a maritime climate so by its nature does not run to any pattern. The chances though of a hot summer or cold winter have been eroded by a change in the way our weather is driven. Any settled spells of weather without a doubt will become few and far between in the next decade. Our seasons have changed and will continue to change for the foreseeable future. Our climate has changed and will continue to change,we may not like it but it's a fact i'm sure will be proven correct over the coming years.
  22. Really liking the look of next week, lovely taste of winter hopefully, long may in continue!!
  23. Heres hoping for the latter,me thinks the long hot summers are a thing of the past. Our weather has changed and we must learn to live with it.
  24. I wish!! My working day is 6plus hours in 90f temp with 100 percent humidity, summer is certainly not what i look forward to at all.
