    50p size flakes here, really falling fast, visibility going worse.

    Can't see John Lennon airport staying open for much longer-just rung my mate at work in Liverpool City centre and told him to get out of there.

    Buses out of Woolton have changed their routes so they don't go up any hills.

    Just dashed in to say we're getting proper snow here, settling on top of last nights, not huge flakes, but big enough! Planes are still taking off but not sure for how long. Off to Speke Hall now with dogs! :clap:

    Heavy, fine snow in liverpool, flakes appear to be getting larger. Lovely grey hue to the sky...more to come????

    So if you're getting big flakes in Wavertree.... and New Brighton are getting them as well.... maybe they're coming towards the airport and me in South Liverpool....? :D

    Off out with the dogs now for a snow walk!

    Flakes getting much bigger now :yahoo:

    We're still getting small flakes here HotCuppa, plenty of them but they're not making any impact on the snow already down. Do you still think the big band coming from the north will bring us the snow we're hoping for? Boss is thinking of sending staff home a bit earlier this afternoon if conditions are going to get worse!

    Can't see Ellesmere Port anymore from office but just saw plane taking off from airport.

    The low will hopefully pull that snow from manchester and the pennine area further west and south sometime today..as both airports suggest further periods of snow are likely through much of today at any rate

    Well we finally got some snow in South Liverpool! There is about an inch here but it's melting already. It looks very misty across the river - don't know if Ellesmere is getting more snowfall/rain.

    The main roads towards the airport have always been gritted recently but not last night so staff are having trouble getting into work.... sadly, not me.... better get some work done now!

    Wonder if it will snow again before I leave at 1 pm..... :)

    Yeah.......you needed that temp drop

    It appeared to be snowing here in the streets lights (in South Liverpool near the airport) but on going outside I found it is only sleet and is just leaving the floor wet.

    I'm giving up now and going to bed, hoping to see some snow.... any snow.... in the morning, but not holding out much hope. Those of you who have it, enjoy!

    I was speaking earlier this morning about Tuesday evening into Wednesday being an interesting night. Things have changed somewhat since then, and tonight may well just deliver, we could even get some snow from tomorrow afternoon's event, being at the northern end of the snow precip. Temps should remain close to freezing for south liverpool, hale and runcorn if things come off should get a battering lol

    Fingers crossed then! Still dry here but cloud brighter and less heavy. Just heard it's snowing in Widnes....

    It's just too early to tell, you need to remember that both nw and ne scotland where stuck in warm air last night and that doesnt appear to have changed much at all, while the rest of us where closing in on double -ve digits.

    Wigan and Warrington above reporting snow, but tbh if you have negative dp's right now, can't see it being anything other than snow for a little while at least. The radar is showing it hitting our region as sleet which doesn't bode well.

    However that being said my temp as dipped again to 1.3C dp -3.2C

    We have had a few odd flakes of snow out of the big black cloud that came over in the last hour but it seems to be breaking up now - I guess that's our snow in south Liverpool for today then! It has been a beautiful day though, bright sun and crisp frost!

    Nailed it well there imo with Anathrop...think we could get low enough tonight for some places to hit -10C or more in the exposed higher elevations. Saying that, I live in an odd place, you see even 2/3 miles down the road to south liverpool they usually have pretty much different weather to me, which is likely to be because they are lower down and protected more. I am not that far from the cheshire gap which can play merry havoc with temps and the loss of snow as we all know to well in these parts lol. I am expecting perhaps a colder night than the one we had before xmas which dipped in at -7.1C...heres hoping for some very low temps for it to remain below freezing tomorrow.

    I'm in that place 2/3 miles down the road from you and you're right about our different weather situations. We seem to be the last place to get it even if Hale or Woolton do get a glimpse of it. We always know that even if Liverpool/Halton is forecast snow, it won't necessarily snow here (by the aiport). The aiport seldom closes because it's rarely snowed in so we often help Manchester out!

    Today is a beautiful frosty and sunny day but I still hope the snow we're forecast Tueasday/Wednesday does materialise.

    Netweather are forecasting the risk of snow for us in South Liverpool at 77% risk at 6pm and 92% at 9 pm. At the moment it is not even raining.

    I guess if it did manage to snow here it wouldn't stick as although the temp has dropped it doesn't yet feel cold enough. The temp at the airport is 2c....

    Here are some from today, had a fantastic walk, lovely clear blue skies! The first lot were taken in Uppermill and the rest in the Dovestones area, it was lovely up there it looked like the Alps! only not as tall obviously lol.

    Everything over the merseyside side is of snow...and here was me hating that damned estuary for always ruining snow chances lol

    I do hope you're right about the next wave being snowy as well. It all look beautiful here. Must have had well over an inch in an hour on top of the rock hard ice from yesterday and the day before. I'll try to attach a photo....

    I see, this wasn't forecast. :)

    If it hits here, i hope it gives more hail! already got an inch of it. I LOVE HAIL!

    We've had a lovely afternoon walking in the hail left by our 'blizzard' around 2 - 3 pm. The dogs ate, rolled and peed in it (yellow graupel?!)

    Tonight it has gone rock hard and is crunchy underfoot and icy on the roads. It might not be snow but we have really enjoyed having it and are hoping it will be cold enough for it to stay around a bit longer. It is funny though how it's actually been warmer today and tonight than the days we didn't get anything!

    I'm only a winter visitor here but it's a great place to be when you're learning and the snow threads are really exciting! You will become obsessed - but don't fight it! It won't work!

    I am a little too far north for the Merseyside streamer so not much precipitation over the last half a hour.

    I think the showery activity will soon start to decrease, even in Merseyside! However, Cumbria will have loads more this evening and overnight!

    The weather is having a laugh now!!! After the rain washing away the teeny bit of snow here we've just had 10-15 minutes of hail then snow ( or is it graupel...) and have a light covering again! It isn't thick enough to stay but it is nice to look at!

    Thanks to those of you who are posting pictures - they're lovely!

    Oh I see,

    Rain here atm - 2.7c... Bye snowwww.

    IT MAKES NO SENSE - HOW CAN MY TEMPERATURE BE INCREASING DURING SHOWERS?!

    The cloud coming over me now is running along the airport runway from west to east and is a much lighter grey than the last one.

    I don't know how I'm going to cope when I go home from work at 1 pm and have no view!!!!
