  1. wow Heswall is really domed.

Im watching that storm to the NE of me go by, what in the the name, not even a flake of snow!

To add insult to injury a hot minimum of -0.7C (after midnight) whilst everyone else in the Wirral went down to -2C

Further more it's +2.5C now, balmy day ahead.

Stephen, are you getting anything from this big snow cloud that's over Speke? We're getting little flurries and it looks to be heading your way....

  2. Very light layer of snow in South Liverpool this morning with flurries coming now and again in the last hour. Widnes had 2" inches last night and Belle Vale also got a covering - it is snowing there now too. I can see out across the Mersey towards Ellesmere Port atm and there is a snow cloud hovering between us so fingers crossed we might pick something up from that. It is moving so slowly I can't tell in what direction yet but possibly south east - does that make any sense to anyone??? The Welsh Mountains have decent snow on them presumably from last night.

Oh I hope we get some decent snow today - all we've had here is flurries and millimetres!

  3. Rather large cloud mass coming from the SW direction , from over the Clwydians direction-moving incredibly slowly.

Temp here -1.5C, no wind speed.

To the guy in Runcorn-you may get a bit-depends on the influence of any Snowdonia/Clwydian snow shadow. This cloud will be over me in about 10-15mins-I'll let you know.

I nipped into Woolton this afternoon and was surprised how much snow/ice there was around on the pavements and driveways. I'm only 3 miles away and there's virtually none here. :whistling:

I'm pleased for the rest of you across the region who've had the snow you wanted! My 5 year old God daughter who lives in Manchester has put some in a bag in the freezer for me so I will have snow for Christmas - one way or another!

  4. I wouldn't :whistling:

I can see a huge cloud bank heading my way so I am. Looks like those showers are continuing to develop in the Irish Sea, although most of them wont affect us. The only chance we have is the showers crossing Wales and the issolated showers.

Right, I'm off to bed then! But I know every time I wake up in the night, I'll have to get up and look out the window just in case!!

    Goodnight all.

  5. Can see the cloud bank from Wales now. It's almost here - If there is anything left in it, i don't know.

0.9c now up from 0.6c (Temperature normally rises before snow)

Everywhere is sparkling here with ice/frost but only tiny patches of frozen grauple left in sheltered areas. Was just giving up and going to bed. Is it worth me staying up for a while longer Backtrack? I'm next to Liverpool Airport?

  6. Has anyone else near me been dissapointed with todays pathetic heavy grauple showers with sun in between melting what stuck?

Yes, we're disappointed here in South Liverpool. Everywhere looked lovely this morning when we got up but less than two hours later it was slush and has all gone now. We don't get seem to get snow here until everywhere else is covered and then we only get the left overs! I can't work up any enthusiasm now for the rest of the week as it's looking pretty grim.

  7. Our couple of centimetres of REAL snow from the early hours have washed away now in South Liverpool in the sleet/rain showers that followed and the sun is trying to break through!

A recent hail shower has speckled the floor but no snow left, just slush. :)

Hope there's more snow on the way but I think it will have to be pretty sustained to make an impact now.

  8. Maybe Sleety at first then im pretty sure it would be snow for you. Dont forget when the band of ppn hits it will come with a swathe of -5 to -10 hpa and dew points will tumble to 0 and below so id be very supreised if you dont see some decent snowfall tomorrow mate !.

So glad to read your replies to Backtrack as Runcorn is not far south of me and I'm living in hope that we get some of his snow first!

Don't know what the temp here is at present, except it's freezing!!!! :D

  9. After telling work colleagues that its deffo gonna snow today (after reading all of last weeks model outputs comments etc) has ended up with me back tracking with huge egg on me face.lol,my own fault.

I, too, have to go into work tomorrow and face my colleagues after telling them there was a 92% chance of snow between 3 pm and 6 pm today..... But where I live in South Liverpool, near the airport we haven't had a flake - not one - not even a sleety one - not even a rainy one!!! :(

We went in the city centre around 7-ish and it was absolutely freezing but still... not one flake ;) I've also told my work mates Saturday night/Sunday morning looks good for snow.... should I back track in the morning? ;) Liverpool is always last in the region to get the snow and Speke is always last in Liverpool!

  10. thing is, people are so disappointed if it doesnt snow in their area, and yet if they were that bothered they only have to travel about 40 miles or so to see some very decent snow falls.maybe an inconvenience, but if your that bothered and well worth it trip IMO. Llangollen was great for slegding on sat/sunday and is only an hours drive if that from liverpool.

We did this a few years ago travelling over to Wales where the snow was absolutely beautiful! We spent the day at Llyn Brennig with the dogs and it was very special.

Sadly ill health prevents me from travelling very far at the moment, but hopefully one day I'll be able to make that journey again. In the meantime, I live in hope, well, south Liverpool.... roll on Spring!

  11. If those winds strengthen, We could get a good inch or two out of this. :D

When I posted this afternoon, another poster said they would rather the snow didn't come at all if it wasn't going to stick/last long. Well our snow fall last about an hour, barely covered anything, and disappeared again less than an hour later. It was disappointing to say the least after us all getting excited.

I understand where the other person (sorry I can't remember who!) was coming from now. I've noticed over the years that when snow is predicted for the North West, it doesn't necessarily mean Liverpool will get it. And when it is predicted in Liverpool, it doesn't always include South Liverpool! One of the hazards of living right next to the Mersey I guess!

I hope you all get whatever weather you are wishing for this week, but I think it's time I stopped looking for it, and I might get a nice, unexpected surprise!

  12. it should be snowing where you are, and also exp3ect an heavier band to pass through, think this may well last a couple of hours..its quite heavy here ow

http://www.itvlocal.com/meridian/live/ click on nw for pier head it look iminous, before you could see the wirral now you cant see anything over the mersey

that extra 10 miles in does make a difference

Thanks for the news Northwest Snow - it looks like it's trying to stick on the floor now . We're not far from you and we're getting those big fluffy flakes! Aren't they wonderful? Sounds like we're going to get proper snow this time!

  13. oh its starting to settle now its so heavy! :o

Gosh I hope the heavier snow is coming my way! Snow all around us here still doesn't guarantee snow in South Liverpool. We're off out with the dogs soon to the shore. We can see the Wirral and North Wales mountains all covered in snow from there. Hope it carries on snowing here and settling - it's getting better by the minute!

  14. There seems to be some moderate showers breaking out just south of Manchester on the latest meto radar. Anyone confirm what they are falling as? I'm quite hopefull for tonights snow prospects in this region as I prefer to nowcast by watching the radar, which looks in good shape tonight, instead of relying on the BBC forcasts which tend to get it wrong anyway. Like the Monday/Tuesday event

Is this the Meto Buienradar Belgie you are using? How accurate is the NetWeather GFS chart?

  15. Pats of south liverpool/south Merseyside may get a dusting.

That would still be lovely! The recent snow was beautiful while falling and for a few hours the following morning before it started melting. I took plenty of photos including snow on the shore, right next to the incoming tide on the Mersey which is very unusual, but my camera card has died and I can't view any of them. :)
