  1. Just popped out for a ciggie and definately 75% Rain with a few bits of sleety stuff thrown in in this part of Leigh On Sea. Looks like a boring cold grey day tomorrow, roll on the Zonality better than this dross! Night All!
  2. Nothing this side of the Estuary and clouds breaking up letting more of the sun to break through, can see the cloud bank towards Herne though which is giving them the white stuff, the 22 month wait goes on - March 2013 all is forgiven
  3. Tom has pretty much covered it above tbh, we have what I believe to be one of the best teams in the world currently chasing in Tornado Alley with over 50 Cumulative years experience between us and if you look at the stats we have been joint top or in fact the best for tornado numbers over the past few years from Worldwide Tour Groups. We typically cover 4,000 Miles on an average 10 day trip and Tour 1 last year covered 13 States in 10 Days (Not for the Faint Hearted) but we all get along and muck in, you will learn sooo much in those action packed 10 days from why we target the areas, how to chase the storms and how Supercell Thunderstorms work. Last year Netweather witnessed a career best 27 Tornadoes over the 4 Tours taking my personal tally to 109 Career Tubes! Some Highlights of last year can be seen on my blog, but a few pictures of Supercells and Tornadoes below, not long now at just over 100 days until it all starts and with a La Nina expected to persist another active Season is expected! Blog Below http://blog.weatherholidays.com/2014/07/monday-16th-june-2014-nebraska-moderate.html - 16th June 2014 http://blog.weatherholidays.com/2014/07/tuesday-17th-june-2014-nebraska-slight.html - 17th June 2014 http://blog.weatherholidays.com/2014/07/wednesday-18th-june-2014-south-dakota.html - 18th June 2014 And some of the Purty Supercells - New Mexico Supercell - Kansas Supercell - Texas Supercell Regards Paul S
  4. 4 Months today is arrival day for Tour 1 or 120 days!!! Madeleine have sent you a message on facebook as well to get you started with the other group chatter we have about the upcoming trips. Your flights all look ok though, arrival on that 0930 flight is about 1510pm (Local Time) and then return is about 530pm from DFW - LHR Terminal 5 If anyone else on here wants to be added as well then send me a Pm. Other than that keep the questions coming on here and am sure they will all get answered.
  5. Have a friend in Leicester and they have loads as well, roads are well covered there
  6. Go to the Dunstable Downs, Just up the M1, South of Luton, they will have Snow!
  7. They usually try it on before Xmas and run the Sale to about the 17th January, have found in the past the prices take quite a tumble early January as opposed to over Xmas, they also seem to quote lower prices on a Tuesday Morning so maybe try on the 6th January and see if that £800 quid flight has indeed been slashed down a bit.
  8. Hi James Argentina has a kind of reverse Tornado Alley, with the Andes to the east of the flat plains much like the rockies are to the west of tornado alley. Obviously because it is in the southern hemisphere the storms move in the opposite direction to the great plains, and hook echoes on the radar are locating in the North-West part of the storm as opposed to the normal south-west, south in the Northern Hemisphere. Snow chasing is just a fun part of documenting big snowfalls, also convective snowfalls with the rare occurences of Thundersnow etc
  9. That would be amazing Jon, just imagine if we had Mr Cowells money and do that for a whole year, what a documentary that would make!
  10. I am living that Dream James - Lol For the last 8 years I have been going to Tornado Alley for 2 months as the leader of the Storm Chases with Netweather and also 2 weeks in Arizona in August for the Extreme Lightning in Monsoon Season. But If I could do it for a year, would probably be something like below Jan-Feb :- Storm Chasing in Argentina March :- A month in the Northern Territories of Australia for Lightning Storms April :- A shot at Tornado Chasing in Bangladesh May-June :- Pretty much what I do now, Tornado Alley July :- Storm Chasing in Canada (Manitoba, Sasketchewan) August :- Monsoon Season in Arizona Sep-Oct :- Hurricane Chasing anything that Crops Up Nov-Dec :- Northern Lights and Snow chasing up in the Arctic Circle Hope that helps.
  11. July 19th This Year also had some amazing Parameters like 28th June 2012, with Temps around 82f and Dewpoints in the low 70's and with 40kts of Low Level Shear would probably have been a High End Slight in the States, this also produced a very nice Classic Supercell that tracked from Swindon to just South of Oxford, there was also a Supercell in Derbyshire earlier this year and if you go onto Ukww you can see the picture of this HP Supercell on the front page. Some years we get nowt and some years we get a few, if the parameters are there then we can and WILL get Supercell Storms in the Uk!
  12. Was great chatting to you yesterday Sarah. This is the place for Uk based chasers with footage and I am sure they will be along to post stories or give you relevant material for the upcoming show. Regards Paul
  13. Yep lots have been recorded actually - We get on average 1 Supercell per year in the Uk, this year has seen at least 3, but you can go 3 or 4 years without any so the average would be closer to 1 per year.
  14. Yep looks like a Mesocyclone in that Picture, cant see any funnel but certainly a weak wall cloud feature in there as well, guessing this was about 7-8pm last Friday from that line of Storms that were North of Brighton at the time, that put on a lovely display of lightning in Essex I am told whilst sitting 100 miles away in Norfolk.
  15. Thanks Tom and NL Will take a look a few pages back Tom, first time I have had internet since last thursday lol, they dont do Internet in the wilds of Norfolk it seems, more -3g than 3g. Haha
  16. Well for once in the Uk I was in the right location for this storm and it did indeed right turn (Greenday) Was up in Norfolk end of last week for my Birthday on my parents boat at Wroxham and was enjoying a days fishing at the boatyard, at about 515pm started to hear booming thunder to the west which would have put the storm somewhere North-West of Norwich and at that time it was indeed heading straight North towards Cromer, around 545pm it started to right turn and was now heading more towards Yarmouth and we were in for a direct hit, got the following of the approaching shelf cloud as it approached Wroxham looking to the west. Sorry about blurryness of picture (Panoramic etc) - Pretty Special for the Uk Was then treated to small hail and some beautiful clear air Cgs on the back side of the storm out of the rain which was on the forward flank (eastern side) so when viewed from the west as others have said we had the moon and stars above with glaciated anvil and easy to catch Cg Lightning. - Cg Lightning illuminating boats on the River Bure Regards Paul S
  17. As others have said quite a surreal storm around here this evening from about 2045 until 2230pm. Seeing lightning above fog is a new one on me and actually trying to work out where the Cgs were hitting through the fog was altogether baffling, also in Eastwood and 2 of the strikes were in the few hundred yards category, had a few minutes of hail as well, and once the rain came the fog soon departed, dumped about 3/4 of an inch in 40 minutes turning roads to rivers. Once it moved away to the NE It left a clear sky with flashing away towards the Crouch Estuary. Had my eye on this development since 3pm today with a huge TCU Sat over the South Downs pretty much for 4 hours before the Thick Fog made it vanish around 7pm, can only assume there was an Inversion and the Storm broke through the Cap about 7pm along the estuary and some wind convergence kicked it into life not to dis-similar to our Thames snow streamers we get in the winter. Fascinating to watch and audible thunder through Fog is an amazing sound.
  18. Yes £600 is a decent price would you believe. Some people this year waited until April to book and did get something for about £475 but that was a 1 stopper via Amsterdam with KLM Which has its problems if there is a delay with connections etc. Years ago around the 2005 timeframe I bulked at £395 before the aviation theives and the government put the taxes up. See you out there next year Ben!
  19. Yep that would be a good idea Quent, forgot about the videos!! Link to Richards Youtube Page is Below - Mainly footage from Tour 4 https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hairyrusts22 Also if you want to see what Videos Relate to which chase day then the link to the Blog has most of the Videos in them by Chase Day http://blog.weatherholidays.com/
  20. Thanks Lauren, Yes July was a great month for storms for the SE, Hoping we get a decent shot at August as well, also we are long overdue a stormy September, cant remember the last one we had, if we can get one then with the nights drawing in and it getting darker earlier we have much more chance of storms sustaining after darkness for lightning opportunities!
  21. Hi guys, Just wanted to share with you some of the pictures of Supercells, Tornadoes, CG Lightning etc from the 2014 Chase Trips, you may have heard that 2014 will go down as one of the slowest seasons of recent times but it was Netweather's best chase results since we started this in 2007 and we also equalled or bettered most US Chase companies for the 3rd straight year, plenty of spaces still up for grabs on the 2015 Trips so if you are even in the slightest intrigued or want a different type of holiday chasing the worlds most violent weather then a "chasecation" might be for you. Not for the faint hearted though we covered 22,500 miles across 17 states and witnessed 27 Tornadoes including 4 x EF4 Wedge Tornadoes and Softball Sized Hail. If not then please enjoy some of the amazing Storms we captured this year on this thread in date order as they happened! - Henrietta (Texas) Supercell on 7th May - Wakita (Oklahoma) Supercell on 8th May - South Central Kansas Supercell on the 10th May - Kansas Tornado 10th May - Nebraska HP Supercell on 11th May - Nebraska Supercell on 19th May - Cg Lightning near some Railway Tracks 19th May - New Mexico Supercell on 23rd May near Carlsbad - New Mexico Supercell on 25th May near Hobbs - Supercell near San Angelo on 26th May - Tornado near Broome (Texas) on 26th May - Supercell near Buffalo (Oklahoma) 1st June - LP Supercell in Colorado on 4th June - Roswell Mothership Supercell on 7th June - Pilger and Wisner Twin EF4 Tornadoes in Nebraska - Pilger EF4 Tornado on 16th June - Coleridge EF3 Wedge Tornado in Nebraska on 17th June - Night-Time Tornado near Laurel (Nebraska) on 17th June - Crow Lake Tornadic Supercell in Sout Dakota on 18th June - Wessington Springs Tornado on 18th June - Cone Tornado west of Huron (S Dakota) on 18th June - Tornado roping out on 18th June in South Dakota - Supercell near Bowdle (S Dakota) on 21st June - Colorado Supercell on 23rd June Hope you enjoy as much as we enjoyed chasing this spring! Regards Paul S
  22. Who has taken over your account Richard ? Now I know YOU Would not be sat on the beach watching a thunderstorm! Lol
  23. Dont discount tomorrow guys! http://www.ukweatherworld.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/104422-convective-outlook-thurs-31st-july-2014/page__view__findpost__p__909513 Tony is usually very much spot on with these forecasts!
  24. Yep Shockingly Out - By 30 minutes, these models are really bad http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/80952-storm-convective-discussion-12z-21714/page-17?p=3014937#entry3014937 Take a look at that post last night and apart from the Brighton Storm which was not even on that projected model run above as it occured 3 hours later. Post 339 By the Way! Please try not to blame everything else when the times were in fact correct almost to the hour with storms initiating around the Braintree area and also North of London.
