  1. Quite a disappointment, while some areas enjoyed lots of sun and 20°C, it was an overcast, dull and misty day here. It also felt quite nippy in a light south-easterly wind off of the North Sea with visibility below 100 metres at times. Due to this, the temperatures only rose to 13.8°C and therefore kept my March average, just below the 1971-2000 average. I expect that to change tomorrow, but any sunshine looks unlikely. Current Temp: 9.3°C Max Temp: 13.8°C (at 14:17) Min Temp: 7.5°C (at 05:50) Humidity: 90% Pressure: 1024.3hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 7.7°C Wind: SE (3mph) My March average currently stands at 6.2°C (-0.1°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  2. Today started off mostly cloudy and dull like every other day this week. However by early afternoon the cloud started to break and by 3pm a little sunshine had broken through which allowed the temperature to reach 17.0°C, the highest so far this year. Once again after darkness fell it clouded over and has become a little misty, with temperatures actually rising from mid-evening. It looks like another mild night. My March average has taken another battering today, with 0.4°C added on to the total. It will go above average for certain tomorrow. Current Temp: 11.1°C Max Temp: 17.0°C (at 15:18) Min Temp: 9.5°C (at 0:14) Humidity: 85% Pressure: 1025.3hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 8.5°C Wind: WNW (7mph) My March average currently stands at 6.0°C (-0.3°C Below the 1971-2000 average).
  3. Another mostly dull and cloudy day. The morning saw persistent drizzle, but it then became dry after midday. Eventually the cloud cleared somewhat and allowed some hazy sunshine by the early-evening. Another mild day and mild night, skies have cleared a little now and it has fallen below 10°C for the first time in over 48 hours. Another 0.4°C added onto the March average today, I expect it to go above average within 2-3 days now. Current Temp: 9.5°C Max Temp: 15.8°C (at 15:35) Min Temp: 9.8°C (at 23:59) Humidity: 87% Pressure: 1021.4hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 7.4°C Wind: SW (10mph) My March average currently stands at 5.6°C (-0.6°C Below the 1970-2000 average).
  4. An overcast day with constant drizzle and a persistent breeze, quite miserable really. It was however the mildest maximum temperature here since September 30th 2004 and the mildest minimum since January 7th 2005. A combination of these two high values raised my March average by a shocking 0.5°C in just a single day. Despite the high maximum, with a strongwind it didnt really feel mild at all. One could be forgiven for thinking today was a day in October, not March. Current Temp: 10.9°C Max Temp: 15.3°C (at 12:07) Min Temp: 10.2°C (at 22:11) Humidity: 84% Pressure: 1010.3hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 8.2°C Wind: SSW (11mph) My March average currently stands at 5.2°C (-1.0°C Below the 1970-2000 average).
  5. An extremely mild day, the minimum temperature enormously so. By the looks of things tonights minimum will have a major effect on my March average. The weather has been overcast with a slight hint of hazy sunshine mid-afternoon which allowed temperatures to rise above 12°C for only the second time since January 7th 2005. This evening has seen some light rain and overcast skies continuing to keep the temperature up, along with a breeze which has blown for much of the day. Current Temp: 10.9°C Max Temp: 12.6°C (at 13:59) Min Temp: 5.5°C (at 0:00) Humidity: 83% Pressure: 1010.7hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: 8.1°C Wind: SSW (12mph) My March average currently stands at 4.6°C (-1.6°C Below the 1970-2000 average).
  6. A fine start with plenty of sunshine but very breezy. Later on the sunshine became more hazy until it clouded over completely by around 4pm. It then started to rain in the evening, the heaviest rain for some time here. It was a day of large temperature range, a massive 12°C. Current Temp: 6.1°C Max Temp: 11.6°C (at 14:08) Min Temp: -0.6°C (at 05:40) Humidity: 85% Pressure: 1006.8hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 3.6°C Wind: SSW (18mph) My March average currently stands at 4.3°C (-1.9°C Below the 1970-2000 average).
  7. A dry and mostly sunny day, although after mid-afternoon it clouded over and has since become more overcast. The temperature at the moment is still holding up well, however once the skies clear I expect a frost, which we only just missed out on last night. Winds were much calmer today, and in sheltered areas it felt quite warm despite the max of only 6.9°C. Current Temp: 4.6°C Max Temp: 6.9°C (at 15:34) Min Temp: 0.0°C (at 06:11) Humidity: 67% Pressure: 1008.1hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: -1.0°C Wind: NW (7mph) My March average currently stands at 4.1°C (-2.1°C Below the 1970-2000 average).
  8. Today's weather here was rather divided, the morning was quite mild and sunny with a strong wind. However at about 13:10 as the cold front passed over the temperature dropped 5.1°C in 45 minutes! This brought squally showers of rain/sleet and hail which fell until around 5pm. This evening the skies have completely cleared and the wind has died down, so there could be a frost tonight. Current Temp: 2.0°C Max Temp: 9.0°C (at 12:13) Min Temp: 2.0°C (Current Temp) Humidity: 81% Pressure: 1004.5hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: -0.8°C Wind: NNW (7mph) - Gusting to 40mph earlier. My March average currently stands at 4.2°C (-2.0°C Below the 1970-2000 average).
  9. After the last few days of anticylonic gloom, today felt very pleasant with lots of sunshine, little cloud and no wind for most of the day. it was also the mildest day since January 7th and shunted up my March average by 0.5°C. In the last few hours it has once again clouded over, meaning another mild night to come, which will further chip away at the CET. Current Temp: 5.4°C Max Temp: 12.8°C (at 12:46) Min Temp: 3.0°C (at 6:36) Humidity: 79% Pressure: 1018.0hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 2.0°C Wind: NW (9mph) My March average currently stands at 4.1°C (-2.1°C Below the 1970-2000 average).
  10. A mostly cloudy day with persistent drizzle and occasional sunny spells. As with yesterday, all precipitation dried up by around 5pm and at the moment it is overcast but dry. Another mild day and extremely mild night due to the persistent cloud, which is raising the average temperature for the month considerably. Current Temp: 5.1°C Max Temp: 8.3°C (at 15:27) Min Temp: 4.1°C (at 05:40) Humidity: 82% Pressure: 1031.0hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: 2.2°C Wind: Calm My March average currently stands at 3.6°C (-2.6°C Below the 1970-2000 average).
  11. An utterly miserable day, the very definition of anti-cyclonic gloom. Overcast skies with persistent drizzle and light winds with average temperatures. It has cleared slightly this evening and dried up, but I doubt theres any chance of a frost. Current Temp: 4.6°C Max Temp: 8.3°C (at 13:52) - highest so far for March. Min Temp: 3.8°C (at 06:55) - also the highest. Humidity: 80% Pressure: 1030.8hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 1.4°C Wind: WNW (4mph) My March average currently stands at 3.4°C (-2.8°C Below the 1970-2000 average).
  12. It has been a mostly cloudy day with brief sunny periods. Although the temperature dropped below freezing early this morning there was still no frost. It has also been a dry day, with no precipitation of any kind. The sky is currently clear, so theres a chance of a frost tonight possibly. Current Temp: 1.0°C Max Temp: 6.8°C (at 16:10) Min Temp: -0.7°C (at 05:35) Humidity: 82% Pressure: 1027.9hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: -1.7°C Wind: NW (6mph) My March average currently stands at 2.8°C (-3.4°C Below the 1970-2000 average).
  13. Amazing suprise here, after being forecast rain/sleet showers overnight by almost everywhere I have woken up to a 3cm covering, the first significant covering since the last northerly which started this cold spell. Amazing that northerlies can deliver here on low ground with marginal temperatures yet an easterly cant! On the bad note, ill be late for work now as none of the roads were gritted, guess they didnt expect it either
  14. Woke up to a slight dusting here, but it is falling as rain now, so I expect what little there is to melt within the next hour or so.
  15. Had a single light snow shower tonight around 6pm, this lasted around 5 minutes and amounted to nothing. The dewpoint is extremely low at the moment however, so any more precipitation tonight should definitely be snow, heres hoping for some.
  16. A bright start but quickly becoming overcast by midday. There was a light snow shower tonight but it didnt amount to much. Should any other precipitation fall it will undoubtably be snow, as the dewpoint is extremely low and even hit -4.9°C earlier. Although the maximum was 5.3°C, it felt extremely cold today, probably due to a stronger wind than recently. Current Temp: 1.1°C Max Temp: 5.3°C (at 11:44) Min Temp: 0.5°C (at 21:10) Humidity: 72% Pressure: 1012.0hPa (Rising) Dewpoint: -3.3°C Wind: NNE (12mph) My March average currently stands at 3.2°C (-3.0°C Below the 1970-2000 average).
  17. December 01, 2004 to February 28, 2005. Warmest Max: 13.1°C (on 07/01/05) Coldest Max: 2.0°C (on 20/12/04) Warmest Min: 11.0°C (on 07/01/05) Coldest Min: -2.4°C (on 28/02/05) Average Min: 2.7°C Average Max: 7.8°C Overall Average: 5.3°C (+0.8°C Above 1970-2000 Average) - Mildest since 1998. Air Frosts: 13 Snow showers: 31 Snow lying at 0900: 3 days Dry Days: 46 Wet Days: 44 Thunderstorms: 0 Well what can I say, with an extremely mild January (+1.7°C Above 1970-2000 Average) the winter on the whole finished the mildest since 1998. It was also the most snowless here since my records began, with only 3 days of snow lying at 0900 (all in late-February) - however two of those were slight dustings and one an accumulation of 1 inch. It was also the latest time I have seen a first snowflake all winter since my records began - 18/02/2005. A pretty dry winter too, with more dry days than wet here, quite unusual. Unfortunately due to my rainfall meter being broken I cant comment on amounts, but needless to say it will be low, as over half of those wet days were insignificant drizzle. No thunderstorms either. As well as being the most snowless, it was also extremely low on air frosts, 13 in 90 days of winter is ridiculous, and 7 of those were in December. January and February only had 3 each! There were however a total of 31 snow showers, all due to last weeks northerly/easterly cold spell, which coincidently saved this winter from being the mildest since 1990 by lowering the February CET to only +0.5°C Above 1970-2000 Average.
  18. We had a period of around 15 minutes this morning where the rain turned to extremely wet snow which was sort of like a sludge falling from the sky in massive globules of around 1½" in diameter, very unusual

  20. I woke up to a light dusting from a snow flurry overnight. Through today there have been a further 2 snow showers, these however were extremely light in nature and died out completely by midday. Precipitation returned at around 7pm, but this was of mainly rain/sleet as the dewpoint has now risen above freezing.
  21. Today has been overcast, with some light snow flurries earlier on, but becoming dry by midday. This evening has seen further showers of rain, but relatively light. Quite a cold day as well, following the coldest night this month. Current Temp: 2.1°C Max Temp: 3.6°C (at 15:02) Min Temp: -2.4°C (at 2.17am) Humidity: 88% Pressure: 1007.6hPa (Falling) Dewpoint: 0.4°C Wind: WSW (4mph) My February average stands at 4.7°C (+0.5°C Above the 1970-2000 average) making my entire winter average 5.3°C.
  22. This morning saw a covering of around 3cm here, which was frequently topped up by 4 heavy snow showers in the morning. After midday the showers died off, only to return at around 5pm but as rain/sleet. The showers are still going on now, but are now just mostly rain with occasional hail/sleet mixed in. Sadly, all 3cm of the covering we had here has melted in the sun and the warm max temp of 5.3°C this afternoon. The only real sign we had snow is in some sheltered parts where it has remained, but the rain is rapidly seeing to this.
  23. Today started mostly cloudy with heavy snow showers, which died out by midday leaving a mostly sunny day which was actually quite pleasant in the sunshine! Around 5pm saw the return of heavy showers but by then they were mostly hail/sleet and have turned gradually back to rain as the night has gone on. At present it is now mostly cloudy with light rain/sleet showers. Strangely the wind hasnt veered NE yet. Current Temp: 1.8°C Max Temp: 5.3°C (at 13:35) Min Temp: -0.6°C (at 04:07) Humidity: 89% Pressure: 1014.6hPa (Syeady) Dewpoint: 0.1°C Wind: NNW (13mph) My February average currently stands at 5.7°C (+1.8°C Above the 1970-2000 average).
  24. Today started with a dusting of snow on the ground from a suprise early snow shower at 5am. The morning started mostly sunny and this snow all melted by around 10am, throughout the day cloud built until a light flurry at around 4pm happened. Since then, we have had 4 heavy snow showers, which have accumulated to a depth of around 1cm. The temperature is currently steady between -0.2°C (between snow showers) and 0.1°C (during snow showers). Current Temp: 0.1°C Max Temp: 5.1°C (at 14:12) Min Temp: -0.2°C (at 22:12) Humidity: 87% Pressure: 1015.5hPa (Steady) Dewpoint: -1.7°C Wind: NNW (9mph) My February average currently stands at 5.8°C (+1.9°C Above the 1970-2000 average).
  25. Another snow shower has just started here, the 4th since 6pm. We now have around 1cm of lying snow.
