  1. Currently in Mont de Marsan in southern France staying in a relatives house for a month so probably won't be on netweather much. Pleasantly warm here today and looking good especially later in the week....warmer still into the mid 20s. Sun is noticeably stronger down here. Got burnt yesterday on the first day.
  2. An interesting 7 months of the year. Cold and snowy January, further cold and snow in the Feb & March. Rest of Spring was unusually chilly and the leaves on most trees not coming on fully until late May, they were about a month behind. Summer up here was a one trick pony with just July the stand out month. It was a good month though if heat is someone's thing. Hottest July since 2006. Don't really remember much about the weather later in the year. Mustn't have been all that interesting.
  3. Hear hear. Couple of hail/graupel coverings today. Nice to see....probably last chilly day tomorrow before turning gradually milder.
  4. Been Lancaster and back. Tricky on the motorway with all the spray and the downpours gave the windscreen wipers a good workout and the car a jet wash. Some wintryness in some of them...ice pellets hail. Big differences right now between north and south. Bang on 5C here but 14C in Kent.
  5. Not a nice night ahead with the wind picking up Going to be noisy in my west facing bedroom. Might go in the spare room as have to be up in Lancaster in the morning can't be driving on the motorway with little sleep.
  6. Yes not a great day drizzly rain, mist hugging the still bare trees in the valley. Milder though..... temp has got into double figures but in the breeze and zero sunshine it's felt more like 7 or 8C. Similar tomorrow by the looks of things before it turns brighter, showery & colder Wednesday onwards.
  7. Yes even that warm spell last week it was beginning to hit 20C in the bedroom for the first time since probably late September, for me 20C is uncomfortable territory with a duvet on. The room is west facing as well so gets the sun all afternoon unfortunately. That week long hot spell last July it was 29C on a few nights in the bedroom which is not nice at all. An ordinary fan doesn't do a thing or having the window open if there's no breeze. Might as well have slept in the garden or in a tent in the woods nearby, would have been much cooler! I've got a portable AC unit now ready for any hot weather this year. Probably be a 2012 washout now
  8. Looks like a milder start to next week but under the thick cloud, rain and gusty wind it probably won't feel all that mild. Colder brighter weather looking like returning around Thursday - maybe a last chance at some wintry stuff before Spring properly kicks in for good? GFS showing a bit of a plume of African air moving north towards the end of the run nudging temps up to 20C+.
  9. Got up to 7C here today, yesterday no higher than 5C. Had many days in the Winter that was milder. WRF showing a sprinkling of snow for the Pennines tonight/tomorrow morning but probably not amounting to a lot.
  10. Had snow cover up here this morning and looks like it'll stay chilly for the foreseeable, staying in single figures for about week going off my weather app. Maybe not for you lot in the south.
  11. Looks like another few more days of chilly weather before it turns *slightly* milder but there doesn't look to be anything all that warm on the horizon, nothing like what we had a few days back. Possibly some more snow chances over the next 24 hours. Still a rash of showers moving down from the N/NNE at the moment, whether these will die off later because of no convection remains to be seen. Wouldn't be surprised if we get another covering later on though like this morning. Uppers and dew points very much on the right side.
  12. Had a covering on all surfaces early today. Didn't last long though - the power of the late March sun got to work on it.
  13. Doesn't surprise me. It's starting to stick on the grass by the side of the M62 summit. Cold rain here 3.7C.
  14. Timing tonight in regards to snow could be an issue, the real cold air doesn't get to us until afternoon tomorrow so maybe the highest ground could see a cover in the morning but below 400m I doubt there will be anything other than cold rain. Thursday looks interesting though with snow showers moving in from the North Sea. The upper air by that stage will certainly be cold enough.
  15. First time in about 5 months I can see some good chunks of bare ground and a bare green roof in one the world's snowiest places in Japan. Says just 11cm on the ground now where it's measured. Been a steady thaw the last few days there. Be ironic if they got to zero snow cover yet we started to get some. 旭川 | ライブカメラ | STV札幌テレビ WWW.STV.JP
  16. Yes had to waft a huge bee (looked like a queen one) out the house today before the missus screamed the house down . As you say a big change on the way, warm parker and hat looking like coming back out of the wardrobe. Thought I'd seen the last of them until November.
  17. Not sure where in Manchester you are but we had snow cover here in Oldham one morning in late April 2016 - a couple of cm before it melted quickly in the strong late April sun. About the same as last April's snow really. Be interesting what this summer is like, usually a good warm March is often a bad omen. That said I'm not a huge fan of pattern matching. But last summer wasn't too bad...June was quite useable, July we had a full week of hot sunny weather and August was a bit like June. The lack of thunderstorms was notable especially after that hot spell in July...was hoping it would go out with a bang but no. Think we had a better summer here than down south which was unusual.
  18. After a lot of typical reluctance by the GFS to get on the cold waggon the models are looking fairly rock solid for a cold snap now into next week and looking at the met office forecast probably the last bright day tomorrow before much more cloud arrives and a gradual big drop of temp into next week. It will feel genuinely chilly in the NE/N wind but given it'll be basically April in any sun it still shouldn't feel anywhere near as raw as it would have done 2 months ago. Cold where were you back then???? it's going to be April and your late to the party.
  19. Don't know how people can do it with soaring energy prices plus it's a total waste of energy given it was warm outside today and should be on the inside as most of the country has been basking in sunshine the last few days. The only places that should have heating on is probably care homes and in some instances hospitals.
  20. Yeah if I was living alone I wouldn't have the heating on to be honest unless there is a significant cold spell which is a rare thing these days. This winter when the heating was off the lounge was around 17-18C which is fine for me dressed in normal clothes. The missus however would rather live in a sauna and above 20C
  21. First cut is always hardest, the mower seems to drag even when the grass isn't long. Doesn't help that the ground and soil temps are probably still cold after the winter so it holds more moisture I guess hence the dragging. Thinking about doing mine this weekend before the kitchen sink gets thrown at us next week. Otherwise it might resemble a jungle by mid April.
  22. Min was -1.7C here. Nice sunny start to the day but has clouded over. Supposed to have been sunny but this is the NW - cloud magnet.
  23. 17C the high here with plenty of hazy sunshine. But just a heads up we have very high air pollution on Thursday for parts of our region. First for the east tomorrow then us. Anyone know why?
  24. Summer 2012 did achieve some very warm days towards the end of July and around early-mid August so it wasn't completely devoid of shorts and tshirt weather but overall in between it was certainly poor. Of course July 2013 was a stunning month if you like heat and prolonged sunshine but was a one trick pony as the June and August of that year didn't have any notable heat to be remembered by.
