  1. Well, going by many recent winters, they'll be looking for snow, as they won't find any here!
  2. It's better to have a warning when you're likely to see 200mm of rain, methinks.
  3. I spent 21 years in the Scottish Highlands, so I know what snow is! Nothing beats clearing your car of a foot snow then pop indoors for a cup of coffee, only for the snowplough to come along and shove four feet of the stuff up your exhaust pipe.
  4. I'm still wearing a tank top and have my windows open. I must be mad!
  5. If the charts are anything like this, I'll be a coldie in January.
  6. Aye, it's been a beaut! But I did get some funny looks when peeps noticed I was wearing a tank top. @markyo will know what I mean!
  7. What an absolutely glorious day: I don't know, or care, what the temperature is, it's the unbroken sunshine that matters. . . It's at this time of year, along with late January through early March that I can use my vape to make light spots on the wall; my cat loves it!
  8. If there's one thing I've learned, in my 21 years on NW, it's never get too hung up on winter-like charts in October!
  9. It's the same up here, mate. Where has that cold front gone?
  10. And what about all the years it's picked out cold patterns that never happened?
  11. I'd welcome a chart like this, were we in January, February or early March., but not in October; cloudy, windy, cold and sometimes drizzly weather is not my cup of tea!
  12. Today's GFS 06Z looks like a case of 'anything could happen', to me; not that's unusual: Day 5: Day 10: Day 15: So nothing worth worrying about and no portents (mild or cold) for winter, either. And the GEFS ensembles diverged rapidly after around Day 6:
  13. Well, I'm not anti-children in any way, but teenagers sometimes cause concern. Anyway, back to the weather: it's currently very warm at 21C and horribly humid, with quite a bit of AcCas about. I'm probably too far north for any thunder. We shall see!
  14. But, had there been no diesel cars in the car park, the fire would never have started in the first place?
  15. That's why I can't be bothered with them until January. Being close to the North Sea always means that what would once have been snow is now rain/sleet -- hardly the most enjoyable of weather-types?
  16. I the meantime, I'll just wait until a week before the snow comes. And, if last year's anything to go by, I'll be waiting until Smarch!
  17. And 7C in October is pure purgatory!
