I am not sure when that happen John but nevertheless those figures even if not entirely accurate only confirm my feelings. There is no doubt in my mind number of days with thunder has declined here.
That could because we, as short-lived individuals, put a lot of importance on decadal variation?? Aren't all averages only meaningful in hindsight?

I've been reading models on here for more than 12 years...They're getting better, no doubt; but whining about what might (or, more likely, might not) happen at T+10,000 is futile.

We will get super cells from that Surrey. Despite the lack of heat this summer, my melons have sprouted. Just goes to show how sunny it has been in the capital. Really could do with some heavy rain now, instead of the two days of drizzle that I got so far this month. Sunny for the rest of the week and warmer too. 22c at the moment.
You changing sex!

Morning Cap. Lovely up here. Now the weekend is over.

El Mogodon?

Look it up, it's amazing! The ACCAS are (usually) pre-thunderstorm clouds!
I know that. But I didn't know you could eat them!

ACCAS - Altocumulus castellanus - and Cassoulet - a perfect combination! Cassoulet comes from the south of France, from a town called Castelnoudary (Occitan: Castèlnòu d'Arri) is it's birthplace. It's made with beans, confit de canard (like preserved duck), sausages and other good things. I buy little tins and cook it slowly, but the best is freshly prepared - it takes a day of cooking and is divine! Every culture has it's stew, basically, and preserving food is very necessary in extreme climates.
You have me completely flummoxed there, S...

Harrow. I have heard about Slough, it sounds like Edmonton, a complete dangerous, onion/hell hole. My area is no way near as bad as Slough, you must be glad to be out of there. Did you get burgled? Crime is coming down in the UK BTW The outlook for the rest of the week is for sun and getting warmer too.
Do you know Shakespeare Drive? That's where my mother and grandparents used to live.

Well, if it's really wet I guess that Beef Wellingtons (pathetic!) would suffice?

Right what I'm eating at the moment ACCASSOULET
And what on earth is that?

Its truly dire but what is also disappointing is when the ECM 12z draws more focus than the 0z which happened to show a settled end with high pressure and warmth at 240h. As ever, the ensemble mean will give the overall picture.
But it's one run of one model...Who knows what will actually happen?

Alphabetti Spaghetti. Oops, I meant the Mod thread!

I tried my hand at a time lapse, it's not great
I think I'll have a stream live to my site and record at the same time, making time lapses on 'interesting' days
Need to move my cam first, and also, during the night when IR switches in, I get an odd annoying halo appearing in the sky, not sure whether to turn IR off or on yet, because sometimes when the recordings switch from one to the next, it flips, making the time lapse look odd
Anyway
Uhh how do I link to a Youtube vid? lol
I'm not sure. But I did watch all 0.00 minutes of it!

I think I'll opt for 1947: a fabulous winter followed by a long, hot summer...And all in a year of very-high Solar activity.
-
I quite like the prospect of a weakish high: plenty of opportunity for LP down to our S or SSW to break through. Straw-clutch!

1977?

Good line, will re-use next time the BBC-Guardian gets trumpeted by many folk on here.
One does tend to opt for the real science, 4. It's even better, when it's presented without a token fluff-piece rebuttal concocted by some oil-junkies' hack...

Gravesend, 4th July 2016.

I can remember late 70s and 80s that yiu would be sitting in the garden in baking heat when you would hear the very distant rumbling of thunder and this went on for an hour or so slowly creeping closer and closer. The sky normally looking to the south towards the long mynd would be getting darker and darker and then after maybe a few hours of that the storm would arrive and would last for hours and then slowly would pass over. They were great storms. Not had one of those for at least 15 years and they were a regular occurrence. So something definitely has changed.
I always used to have similar 'memories' about the 1960s; and then it hit me! I cannot remember any of the days on which nothing happened...Recalling yesteryear's not-snow and not-storms is difficult.

Apart from a brief shower late yesterday evening, there's nothing to report.
-
Torrential rain, but no thunder.

And I wanted the Thunder to be the one who knocks
That blue stuff looks good, Walt. Can I have some?
