  1. From a weather perspective, October wasn't the most interesting of months; however it provided plenty of 'usable' weather for outdoor activities - which is always a good thing.
  2. For me, while we still see plenty of colours on the trees it's okay. However, when they disappear and all we see are bare branches, that is when things become miserable.
  3. I think that is what is so miserable about our winters; the seemingly endless grey, grim mildness, usually with wind & rain........ Cold, crispy days are rare, and are especially welcomed; perfect days to get out & about.
  4. I'd been planning on going out for a bike ride based on the weather app; however, it's far windier than I expected........
  5. As I said in another thread, I went out for a walk last night, and was overdressed. It's just not cold, barely cool, even at 9 o'clock - in late October. It looks like autumn, but it doesn't quite feel like it.....
  6. I went out for a walk last night, and was overdressed - and I remember it reminded me of that extremely mild time.....
  7. Yes, I'd like to see four genuine, distinguishable seasons.....
  8. It was a lovely morning - just getting ready to go out for a bike ride....and now it's clouded over.....
  9. I had to make a trip to the train station, and whilst sunny, it was rather cool, requiring my bobble hat. However on the return journey it had warmed up, and is now a glorious autumn day.
  10. I can recall going to spectate at a rally in North Wales in early November, with all my usual wet/cold weather gear - and wearing just a t-shirt/ sunglasses for most of the day. Funnily enough, two years later it was run in snow and rather cold....
  11. Yes, it's a problem I'm having at the moment when going out to cycle. Winter gear in September? Surely not...So it's short jersey/ shorts with arm/leg warmers, which can be removed - with a windproof gilet.
  12. That sounds like perfect winter cycling weather....after 5-10 minutes you're fully warmed up, a short stop for coffee and cake and return home. Beats the 5c wet & windy grimness we normally get.
  13. It was; I had to go out, and decided to wear a quilted jacket...I didn't need it, it was pleasantly warm. We're certainly having a mix of autumn weather this September.
  14. Had a short bike ride - and it's nice & sunny. However that wind is really chilly..fortunately I had autumn/ spring base layers on. It's certainly the coolest I can recall being on a September bike ride.....

  16. I brought the milk at about 7 o'clock this morning - and it was sunny, but it's undoubtedly late summer/early autumn.......
  17. Yes, I noticed that when putting the milk bottles out about 30 minutes ago.......
  18. It definitely was last evening; I went out for a short 1 hour bike ride at about 8 o'clock; and I'm glad I was wearing arm/leg warmers, as the wind was pretty cool....
  19. Ah, so you did the Christmas period; and were the tips any good? I usually did pretty well.....
  20. A glorious month of weather, and from a fabulous period full stop. I finished work most days by 2 o'clock - and was home 20 mins later; so was in the garden most of the afternoon. If there was a time machine then the mid 1994 to early 1997 would be my choice.
  21. Yes, I can remember this. In fact, I've mentioned it before. I had morning paper round and I recall quite a few cool mornings; in fact I even remember frost towards the end of the month, which was a shock, cold hands aren't great when delivering papers. However, later in the afternoon for the evening paper round, the sun was out and it was warm...t-shirt weather.
  22. There's a motorsport Hillclimb there on the 17/18th September....I can imagine it's a pretty good event. Sometime in the future, I wish to do a motorcycle tour, taking in all these fishing villages; I may weigh a bit more after too much fish & chips.....
  23. Yes, I can recall plenty of occasions in early September when leaving for work at 7 in the morning; the sun is out, but there is that 'nip' in the air. And late evening cycle rides when the warmth disappears, and it feels cool, that tells you it's no longer summer.
