No random ensembles from me today. Day 10 (again) on the ECM does look decent and a fair few GEFS look good too. All is not lost as I haven’t yet heard that well known winter straw clutch of ’anyone seen the JMA?, I’ve heard the Met hold it in high regard’ So here is the JMA 192. Heading the way of ECM? Lets hope for a continued improvement tomorrow and maybe if you’re all lucky I will post up some ridiculous cherry picked charts JFF of course

So the GEFS tonight serves up a Christmas special ensemble. A group and song I don’t like but hey ho Look east on 17. Will it stay another day?

ECM and GFS at 144.

So many memories for me of this great period in Leeds. The snowfall on Wednesday the 1st December started while I was at work. At 3pm we were sent home but the roads were gridlocked. 3 miles took me an hour but I got home eventually. I Got my car stuck at the end of my street and left it there. The following morning it was snowed in. More than 30cm had fallen widely in Leeds and according to Wikipedia 76cm had fallen around Sheffield. But as the month progressed it was the temperatures that I will always remember. The ground was more or less frozen for the whole of December. One morning getting in my car the temp on my dash was showing -12c at 630am and I don’t live in the countryside. That was mind blowing. At lunchtime the temp was showing -6c at noon. Again unheard of. Topcliffe in North Yorkshire recorded -19c. We had some more snow events through the month but the length and depth of the cold I will never forget.

Yes P20 looks lonely However P13 says I’m lucky for you P20 as I’m about to join your ensemble bubble. Hopefully they can join up with 3 more ensembles over Christmas to stop me cherry picking when I feel like it.

I know some people disagree with cherry picking one random ensemble at over 10 days out. That’s why this evening I’ve cherry picked 2

The January 95 snow event in Leeds was unbelievable. At 5pm it was raining very heavy bouncing off the floor. All of sudden it turned into massive heavy snowflakes. Within minutes it had formed a layer of slush and within 3 hours we had 40cm on the ground. My mum had to walk from the city centre the 4 miles home. Got to agree mate. I was going out for lunch from work at midday and the temp was -6c. Got a picture of my car showing outside temp of -15c at 630am. And I’m not rural either.

I’m going to be like the models and go for a half way house. That’s 10 pages of BOOMS and YESSSSSSS’S and 10 pages of ‘winters over’ and ‘March is too late for snow’. Although most days I wake up we are still on the same page as the day before?

Here is the day 10 ECM mean I’ll take that. Not saying it’s going to lead to anything but there are definite signs of a change later this month. I mentioned the other day about a few GFS members moving the PV to Siberia and this shows there is a signal there now from the ECM

Yes I’ve noticed a few of the 6z GEFS are wanting to take the main vortex over the Siberian side. And now the GFS op wants to get in on the act
