Just had a quick scan of the GEFS. Some serious cold dropping down from the north on some. Here’s a few snapshots

GFS already trending colder for NYE. Charts at the 0z 162 and the 6z 156

Merry Christmas everyone. 10 years ago we had a month we will never forget. It was enough to make me join this fantastic forum a few years later, as I became more interested in how the weather is forecasted using models and other data. I've always been a lover of cold and snow and have experienced a fair few notable spells here in Yorkshire. Could we now be on the verge of seeing charts like the following popping up a decade later? Anyone concerned about uppers take a look at the charts below. Starting out as heavy rain. This produced 45cm of snow in 3 hours back in January 95 here in Leeds. Wrongly forecasted, it hit at rush hour and caused absolute chaos. For snow alone this beats anything since then
