  1. One interest we all seem to have in common weather wise is thunderstorms. A good storm or two would be great. The last decent thunderstorm in my area was in early May of 2016. But I am predicting mid to late August this year. That is if we are lucky.
  2. I enjoy doing all of those things as much as anyone. But I equally enjoy relaxing indoors whilst listening to the soothing sound of raindrops pattering onto the roof accompanied by that fresh earthy smell whilst knowing that all the plants are getting a good feed at the same time. I see weather as being like food. A little bit of everything in moderation is perfect.
  3. I agree with you 100%. I am neither a lover or a hater of any particular weather. Only thing I don't like is when the same weather drags on and on for weeks on end. At the moment though, the weather is perfect as there's a bit of everything. And as a gardener the rain is very welcome. And whilst temps may be below average at the moment, it still isn't exactly cold is it?
  4. I love how all the heat lovers are complaining of a few days of below average temps after being spoiled with weeks on end of warmth and sunshine. We are only at the very beginning of summer, so there is plenty of time yet for the warm and sunny conditions to come back. Still, each to our own.
  5. After the monotonous Spring which dragged on and on, it's nice to have some actual weather for once. We need more of a variety in our weather, and less blockings.
  6. I for one am going to be enjoying the fact that we are actually have some weather with us again. Be good for farmers and gardeners too. Though I do hope this doesn't go on for as long as the sunny and warm conditions went on for. No matter what the weather is doing, it becomes tiresome if it drags on and on. If we had more variety in our weather and less blockings, then there would be a lot less people complaining.
  7. I agree with everything you're saying. Britain may very well be notorious for its unpredictable weather conditions, but I actually find it to be part of the charm of British weather and I enjoy checking the weather forecast and wondering what the weather is going to be doing next. And a bit of a variety in everything is great, otherwise it just becomes repetitive and boring after a while. Just like this current dry sunny weather: Sunny blue skies are indeed beautiful, but now I am finding it to be monotonous and feel as if it's time for something a little different. Also, let us not forget that we are living in a temperate country. Whilst there is nothing at all wrong in wanting something to happen, I personally think that those who constantly crave long hot summers (and likewise with long freezing cold winters) are living in the wrong country.
  8. Looks like the weather is going to become more changeable from Wednesday onwards. This will be very welcome for those of us who like a bit of variation in the weather.
  9. I never thought I'd ever be saying this, but I am beginning to forget what a cloud looks like. Completely cloudless skies almost everyday for 2 months running is certainly extremely unusual for this country.
  10. I am no expert, but I do believe that to be the case. It does certainly make sense, and long sunny periods with completely cloudless skies almost everyday for 2 months running is extremely unusual for this country. I am actually beginning to forget what clouds look like.
  11. I have this strong feeling that our weather is going to deteriorate from around mid June and by early July this Spring would feel like a distant memory, before becoming settled again around mid to late July.
  12. An unpopular opinion, but I am hoping for more changeable weather. Sure, this weather has been lovely but at the same time it's becoming rather monotonous as would any weather which drags on for a while. But at least I've been able to do plenty of clothes washing (I don't have a dryer).
  13. To come to think of it, I am in two minds about Spring 2020. On a personal note, I would say it's been a fairly boring Spring due to a lack of changeable weather conditions (as mentioned previously, the same weather bores me after a while). But on a more professional note I would say it's been an amazing Spring as I have always been interested in seeing if a certain month/season/year is going to break any records in terms of being sunniest, warmest, coolest, wettest and so on. During my lifetime so far, I would say that this has been the driest and sunniest Spring by far. And possibly even the warmest.
  14. Ah, thunderstorms. That is something we are definitely long overdue on.
  15. Changeable weather makes things far more interesting and something to talk about. Fingers crossed that June and the rest of the summer will deliver more changeable weather. But I certainly don't want a poor summer though.
  16. I have really enjoyed the last couple of days as we experienced something a little different weather wise. But from Monday onwards it looks like we are going back to the same weather we have been experiencing predominantly since the beginning of April. Here's hoping that June will give us more of a variety of weather. ?️
  17. I have a feeling that this is indeed our summer. Whilst a warm and settled spring such as this one can lead to a summer being the same way (2003 for example), more often than not it seems to lead to a predominately unsettled one. 2007, 2011 and 2012 are just a few examples of this.
  18. I agree with you 100%. Don't get me wrong, this Spring has been lovely but more of a variation is needed in our weather otherwise it becomes boring after a little while. But it seems nowadays that having the same type of weather dragging on and on for weeks if not months on end is becoming more of a common occurrence.
  19. My predictions for Summer 2020: The first half of June will be a continuation of the dry and warm weather we've been experiencing, whereas the weather will begin to deteriorate around the middle of the month and the latter half will be mainly unsettled. Early July will be unsettled with things calming down just after the first week. The rest of July will be around average with temperatures in the late 20s on a couple of days here and there, particularly towards the end of the month. Early August will see the hottest day of the year, with temperatures reaching low to mid 30s in one or two places. After around the 10th, temperatures and rainfall will be around average for the time of year whilst becoming more unsettled in the latter third of the month. So a mixed bag summer really.
  20. I agree. More variation is exactly what is needed. I felt the same way about all that rain we had during the autumn and winter as I do about this current prolonged dry weather. I do like warm and sunny weather but I find that any type of weather, no matter what it is becomes boring after a while if it goes on and on for a while.
  21. This dry weather is fairly monotonous now. I am missing the sound of raindrops hitting the ground accompanied by that fresh earthy smell. We are in need of a good rainfall I think. Or even better, a good thunderstorm. ?️
  22. I am guessing early July. But other than that I have a feeling that we are in for an average summer at the most.
  23. I for one am looking forward to a change in the weather. I find that any weather type regardless on what it is, becomes boring after a while if it is constant. It would be nice If our weather was actually in line with the seasons and we had a balanced mix of warm sunny days with wet, cool and cloudy ones. All weather types are beautiful in their own ways, so it is nice to experience a little bit of everything. ?️?️
  24. Seems to be an unpopular opinion (even in the moans thread), but here it goes anyway. Hopefully it won't be long until we get some rain and closer to average temperatures. Sure, this weather has been lovely, but I feel as if it's time for something a little different now as the same type of weather a few weeks on end gets fairly boring. I am beginning to miss that fresh earthy smell you get with rain,
