  1. Looks like today is the beginning of the end of the unsettled pattern we have been stuck with for weeks on end. Don't want to see any more rain for a while now.
  2. Looking forward to the upcoming crisp sunny days. Can't come soon enough.
  3. September is an overrated month in my opinion. The summery feel is fading but it doesn't quite have that mellow fruitfulness of autumn yet either. Whilst it is often a pleasant month, it isn't the most interesting of months from a weather enthusiast's perspective. As for the September just gone, other than the hot spell early in the month it was a pretty standard UK September really. That would be very much welcomed with open arms.
  4. Yes. I like the occasional storm at this time of the year, but it's gone on for far too long now that it's become tedious.
  5. The earlier sunsets are no where near noticeable yet. It usually isn't until mid January when I start to notice.
  6. Whether your preference is for cold or mild, I think it's fair to say that the majority of us are now sick to the back teeth of this current weather pattern. My preference is for cold and sunny, but I am so sick of the rain that I'd even take mild, dry and cloudy. Whilst boring, at least it would be a break from the rain.
  7. Perhaps this thread should be renamed to "The model thread moans thread" seeing as there's more moans in here about the model thread than the actual weather itself.
  8. As much as I want some snow or crisp sunny days, for the timebeing I am just happy that we will finally be having a pattern change as this current one has been dragging on for far too long. Crisp sunny days or snow would obviously be a bonus, but for now I just want it to be dry and preferably sunny.
  9. I would love a March 2012 repeat, just as long as it doesn't lead to a summer 2012 repeat. My ideal spring would be something like March 2012, April 2015 and May 2018.
  10. December 2023 is turning out to be one of the worst, if not the worst Decembers of my lifetime alongside December 2015. Apart form the first 2 days, this month has been everything that is wrong with our winters - mild temps, little to no sun and relentless rain. Good riddance to 2023 I say, and here's hoping that 2024 will be a better year for seasonal weather.
  11. 2023 has been a rubbish year overall for weather. Here's hoping that 2024 will be a lot better and provide something for us all.
  12. Just shows how far peoples' expectations have been skewed in recent years. If we were at this point in February, then I'd understand. But we're still in early days of the winter season so anything springlike shouldn't really be happening for a couple of months yet.
  13. Seeing as we are having such a drab winter, I suppose we may as well start looking for signs of spring instead. Though there is still plenty of time yet for cold and snow, which I hope we get.
  14. Yes. During that heatwave back in September, I wore no protection and had nothing more than a slight tan. Had it been a heatwave in June or July with no protection, I would have no doubt have been burnt.
  15. I find it harder dragging myself out of bed when it's still dark in the morning, so sunrise after 9am would be awful. I also don't like the idea of children going to school in the dark. If we were to scrap either GMT or BST, I'd personally rather it'd be BST. I like the cosy dark evenings, but not so much dark mornings when many of us have to get up.
  16. I love your username. It's very apt for our climate. It's crazy that in the UK we can have warmer days during December than what we have had in some Junes.
  17. Yep. I am no longer interested in hearing about warm records being broken as it happens way too often these days that I am now so used to it, particularly during autumn and winter. And just as I guessed would happen, some areas are looking to have their warmest Christmas Eve on record. We are certainly well overdue breaking some more cold records. Now that would gain my interest.
  18. It seems that year after year nowadays we are breaking mild records during the autumn and winter seasons. I find this to be the case particularly around Christmas and New Years day. And surprise, surprise (not), Christmas this year is looking to be yet another mild one. I don't expect a constant winter wonderland, but even just average winter temps (around 6 Celsius) is becoming increasingly hard to come by as well as frost which used to almost be a guarantee. Never mind snow chasing, I think we will soon be frost chasing. 2023 has been a poor year for seasonal weather.
  19. How I personally felt about each month: January - Not a bad winter month overall with some crisp and sunny days with frosty nights, particularly early in the month. February - Very mild and benign. Whilst felt nice, I am not a fan of false springs. Would much rather have spring weather during the spring when it is more useful. March - I enjoyed the snow event early in the month and I liked the fact that it was a somewhat mixed month. More sun would have been nice though. April - A meh month with very little to no interest. May - Very little rainfall from mid month onwards and temps were around average on the whole. I didn't mind this month. June - I very much enjoyed this month. Many warm and sunny days along with thunderstorms earlier on in the month. July - The worst July since 2007 in my opinion. As bad as July 2012 was, at least there was a hot and sunny spell later on that month. There was none of that during July 2023. August - Not as good as June but better than July. September - I enjoyed the hot spell we had early in the month, though it did start to feel on the humid side as the heatwave progressed. A fairly mixed month after that and I enjoyed the month on the most part. October - I particularly enjoyed the cool sunny days around mid month. November - We did well for sunshine during this month with temps around average. The crisp and sunny days at the end were nice too. December so far - Meh.
  20. 13 Celsius, mostly cloudy (but dry) and rather windy. Today felt more like a typical March day rather than a December one.
  21. Christmas day is once again looking to be mild and overcast. Can't remember the last crisp and sunny Christmas day.
  22. Yes, sunshine just feels so good whether it is 30 degrees or 3 degrees. Personally hoping we get some more crisp sunny days throughout the winter as well as plenty of sunshine during spring and summer.
