Steady ..... too early to use those phrases .........could still ease back in that timeframe ......
Thats right the front will slow as it reaches stalling point before sinking SE later

Can someone clever explain why the snow is little bits not big flakes?? Is it the very low dew points?? Could it turn to fat flakes!!?
thanks xx
Its because you have non-marginal snow you tend to get the big fat flakes when the conditions are more marginal for snow.

Nice thick frosty sirface for it to lay on to
Also strange only a yellow warning from the met when the last snow event was no where near what could happen today and there was an orange warning out for that

That’s generally the best way to deal with possible snow !

There is another tweet from a few minutes earlier ...... Stevenage was too far north of what that showed for snowfall .....barely made it north of London east of the M1
So confusing with all the models, some going north some going south with the snow, all i know is the front is further north than i was expecting so in conclusion.....i have no idea who will or wont see snow tomorrow

Awful graphics you can hardly see the snow from the clouds and tbh looks like a very weak area of precipitation and a lot furrher south.... definitely radar and window watching from now on

Radar still looks a little naff but hopefully will pick up in intensity as it moves over the sea

For me in Hertfordshire its been sooo frustrating like most of the SE with very little of falling snow let alone lying snow however i have enjoyed seeing reports else where across the country seeing some significant snowfall which has been lacking since 2018. I hate the north/south divide currently in terms of moaning and hope eveeyone gets a bit of what they want before spring! Sometimes the north does well sometimes the south does well and that is weather but in terms of synoptics and interesting output......what a cracking winter so far

Yes, agreed, not without interest going forward. I hate having to be patient.

The concern i have is the sense of deja vu when there was trend to something colder a few weeks back and then it all backed away to what we have now. I just hope lightning doesnt strike twice on this occasion and agree the beginning of Feb looks interesting based on those ensembles.

Home schooling has really done me in today...
(Strange what counts as personal time these days)
Hi Griff just wanted to say i like looking at your posts and hope you are looking at meteorology as a profession as i think your knowledge at a young age seems pretty good! Keep up the hard work....must be very hard for education right now

This all seems different to Marco's earlier tweet about major warmings coming to an end and the vortex coming recovering some what

Weakly negative NAO with low pressure to the North East of the U.K. isn’t conducive to a severely cold spell.
Neither is it a positive NAO like you are saying!
