I have that sinking feeling south lincs is going to be in a dry spot most of this cold spell as most models show streamer setting up north and south of here

Points of note via the raws: 1 concentrate on Saturday >Tuesday! 2: assume everything beyond them time params are pie in the sky. : 3 dissmiss all precipitation data charts until 24hrs out of notions. 4: expect a rollercoaster ride until saturdays 12z suites. 5 ; and the most important..let the flow@easterly incursion actually be Dior knocking b4 looking for possible routes of breakdown,to herald the return of bk to basics... take these into consideration ... and you’ll save yaself pulpatations and unnecessary greif!!!
Thats the first post where i have understood exactly what you mean

All the best for your move to Swineshead Lincs, hope you settle in well. Your post caught my eye because I grew up in the other Swineshead a tiny hamlet in North Beds! I think we once visited your Swineshead, it’s a funny old place name!
Aww thanks yes the name is rather amusing but its a lovely little village with a tight community

I went to 6th form college in Boston, so I know Swineshead well. You're in the right place.

To be fair though these ensembles were showing a good chance of easterlies since the beginning of Jan and its only now its coming to fruition over a month later. These can flip as much as the op runs imo.

Shows how poor it’s been if the best set only goes as far as a -4c mean I’m sure the cold spell just ending had a -7 / -8c mean for a few days in a row a week or so beforehand ?
But how far in advance? This is so fluid its unreal

Saddest thing for me is, I went for my Sunday morning run as usual. When I got home my 2 daughters (5 and 3) were waiting by the back door in their hat, gloves and coat full of excitement. My youngest has never seen snow on the ground.
My wife had got various messages from friends in London full of videos of heavy snow and assumed it was about to start here given we are only 15 miles further East.To see the excitement fade away as the small amount of snow at the start quickly faded to sleet and then rain. Ouch
Thats awful if i could swap places i would! Im pretty confident they will get their snow day before the winter is out!

And will temps and dps drop sufficiently by then. Not getting my hopes up!
The wind direction will change to the NW so should benefit those who have had rain and sleet to this point

Dont forget for those who are missing the snow now the front will start moving back south east later

The band is now moving more south to north with less of an easterly push
