  1. A rubbish end to the working week lies ahead. Met Office warnings for heavy rain and strong winds as a deep area of low pressure crosses the UK.
  2. The last few days the forecasts have been for showers in Northern England. The North Midlands quite often seem to get similar conditions to Northern England rather than the rest of the Midlands. Another torrential downpour in progress.
  3. Torrential rain shower over Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. Out of nowhere.
  4. Wettest part of the UK in July relative to local long term average. Add that to the 200%+ of monthly rainfall we saw in June.... We’ve already seen more than the seasonal average rainfall with a month of summer still to go, but I guess I and all those who are flooded are just expecting too much.
  5. Prolonged torrential rain from this line of showers. This extremely wet and dreadful summer rolls on!
  6. You have got to be having a laugh. People expecting too much? This is the wettest summer I’ve seen. It’s atrocious. Severe cold in winter is nothing like cold weather in summer. Come on!
  7. Absolutely chucking it down in Stoke-on-Trent. The theme of this so called summer.
  8. It’s the 4th time there’s been such an event here since late spring. Makes me laugh when people say the land needs it and talk as if we’ve been having an extreme drought. Maybe be true for some parts of the UK but not for this region! You only have to look at how lush all the vegetation is. What we actually need is useable weather where one can go outside and not get soaked.
  9. After the 200%+ of average monthly rainfall last month, I don’t think drought was ever going to be an issue here. Keep seeing people say the plants need the rain. How much rain do they need?! It’s been a rotten summer. One decent hot spell, which people moaned about.
  10. Been raining unabated since Friday night. Utterly hideous.
  11. Delightful, and to think people are pleased to see a return to this rubbish.
  12. Some unmaned stations can take up to a month to have their recordings verified, so it's possible somewhere has recorded higher than 38.1'C. 38'C in Northolt not long ago.
  13. Different people like different types of weather and some are weather enthusiasts who like records and statistics. Get over it. Sick of being told I'm mad for liking it and even being made to feel guilty.
  14. Be a shame if we don’t break the all time record today, but at least we have the July record as a consolation!
  15. Highs of 35-36’C won’t have people talking about this event for years to come. It would just be one of several very hot spells in the history of recorded UK climatology. Record breaking temperatures would have today going down in history.
  16. 36'C in Cambridge. Less than a degree to go for the July record.
  17. It’s annoying how much that model under cooks temperatures by. The upgrade appears to have made no improvements to that!
  18. And to the west of London. Areas like Northolt and Heathrow, which are often hot spots.
  19. I remember 2015 well. Temperatures rocketed incredibly quickly to break the July record and could well have continued on to beat the overall record but it suddenly clouded over and the temperature stopped rising.
  20. The Aperge clearly doesn’t see cloud as much detriment to the temperatures as it has the highest temperatures.
