  1. Still working here... although the intensity of the sleet just increased on the latest frame at 19:00 so it probably is broken
  2. The front for tonight looks pretty heavy on radar north of N.Ireland currently (if its the same one). Meto text forecast doesn't make that much of it... "Chance of some wintry showers, perhaps giving a slight covering of snow in places. Otherwise dry with clear periods, especially across northern Argyll. Widespread frost and a risk of icy patches. Minimum temperature -2 °C" Good news
  3. Yeah, a few models hinted yesterday the showers would move in from more of a westerly direction through the day so we need that to happen. Haven't checked the models this morning though!
  4. Nice to see snow around Ayrshire. The meto just issued a yellow snow and ice warning for the west, probably partly because the showers heading towards land now look heavier and more organised.
  5. BFTE was due before Christmas, I wouldn't get excited.... A slushy dusting this morning which has all but melted already. The showers over the next few days seem to have downgraded from what I can see but will keep an eye on it Oh and good to see all the snow photos this morning!
  6. Could happen if the westward extent of the snow gets more organised as it should start moving south as the band pivots. Well that's the theory/hope.
  7. Don't want to jinx it but some heavier bursts starting to form around Glasgow....
  8. After a look at the other regionals some areas around North East Wales and the Manchester area are seeing some heavy snow - not forecast! Shows how uncertain everything is.
  9. Amber warning for some of the areas that got plastered last night, another dumping on top should bring some good totals to the hills just south of Edinburgh! Extreme storms in the summer and now the extreme snow, lucky lot!
  10. There's not a lot here, it was melting as it was falling through the night and the slushy covering on the pavements has melted. There is still a covering on grass/cars and it's snizzling at the moment. The top end of mearns is 200m though so I would suspect they have a bit more snow cover.
  11. I prefer to sit at the top and pretend to drive the car. It must be a decent winter if you're back
  12. Just to show how marginal it is, if you look at the traffic Scotland weather stations it's 2.1c at Lochwinnoch but 0.7c near Darnley on the M77.
  13. I'm at the edge of Newton Mearns. The lamppost confirms full on snow now.
  14. The temperature is continuing to drop and its almost full on snow
  15. Pretty good updated meto text forecast... Strathclyde weather forecast Tuesday 19 Jan - Saturday 23 Jan Headline: Cloudy with occasional rain, turning to snow at times. This Evening and Tonight: North Argyll staying mainly dry, a slight frost. Elsewhere cloudy with outbreaks of rain across Kintyre Ayrshire and Lanarkshire extending north into the Glasgow Area, and turning to snow on the hills. Minimum temperature -1 °C. Wednesday: Cloudy with occasional rain and hill snow, the snow penetrating to some lower ground in the afternoon and evening with significant falls on higher ground, though Argyll drier until overnight. Maximum temperature 4 °C. Outlook for Thursday to Saturday: Some sleet and snow pushing south on Thursday followed by brighter weather in afternoon with scattered showers. Wintry showers on Friday and Saturday.
  16. Yeah, if you watch the met office video forecast for the week ahead on social media the front only really hits the North-East and moves off into the North Sea... whether they think the models are overplaying the deepness of the low or just its westward extent, who knows! As you say, lets hope for upgrades and as it currently stands there is also a chance of snow afterwards from the showers in the NW'ly airstream too.
  17. The front of snow rain is looking pretty heavy and organised out west on the radar. I expect most of the snow will be gone here by the morning, but it didn't seem to melt that much today, although slushy underfoot. Here's hoping to many more snow events in the weeks ahead
  18. Looks like we're finishing off with some moderate to heavy snow. I'm over in East Kilbride at the moment, main roads weren't terrible but not the best and still a few abandoned cars around from this morning.
