  1. Yeah I've been keeping an eye on this, the trend from the UKV is probably for that to be just north of the central belt but that's going off precip charts which aren't the most accurate. Some good ramps in here this morning and they look justified... I expect the snow warning will be shunted north and it should go amber given it will hit the central belt around rush hour! UKV gives around 5-6hours of heavy snow, GFS has snow around for much of the day with snow showers packing in to the west later!
  2. I wouldn't worry (unless it's rain...), if we get something like the chart below as snow, it's at at least 4mm/hr (if the scale is per hr) from 6am'ish until at least lunchtime which is 24cm+ Obviously, it could go north/south, not be as persistent or we may end up in the warmer air, but whoever gets the sweet spot is surely looking at 30cm+ going on the latest charts. Still a while to go until we reach the event though! This is the short range NMM, the medium range has precip around until 9pm on Friday....
  3. Yep, love them. I was on a teams work call when I spotted them so had to switch the camera off and run to the window for a few seconds so I didn't really get to sit and watch it unfold The hail swirling around in the distance also looked really photogenic but I would've needed to leave the room to get a better photo for that which I couldn't do.
  4. Mammatus, normally find them on the back of a decaying cumulonimbus.
  5. 12Z GFS has the low and snow slightly further north again with pretty much all of the mainland in with a chance of snow on Friday, warmer air does creep further into the south and it doesn't look quite as intense in places as previous runs. One of many possibilities I guess! In terms of todays storm, the wind is ramping up now and we have a squally shower moving through with the torrential rain lashing sideways!
  6. Snow warning issued, perth Southwards however It's a little close to missing out for comfort... Text reads well though "Snow, heavy in places, is likely to develop on the northern side of Storm Eunice as it moves across the UK on Friday. There is still uncertainty in the track of Storm Eunice and not all areas within the warning area are expected to see snow. However, some places may see around 5 cm of snow at low levels away from coasts. Accumulations are expected to be significantly higher over hills though with 10-20 cm perhaps up to 30 cm possible above around 250 metres. Strong winds occurring at the same time may lead to very poor visibility, blizzard conditions and drifting of lying snow." GFS 6Z looks ok, if anything further north. Most look ok for us apart from ICON which takes it way south.
  7. Interesting, although meto text forecast is now going for a few wintry showers here on Friday. That's one big wintry shower
  8. Some very heavy showers around today, saw this cracking display of mammatus and had to stop for a photo, its up there or better than you normally get with summer storms here!
  9. Another few heavy showers here with everything white and we have a good covering on the grass. Showers seem to be getting more organised as they head east of here. A lot of roads looking tricky with the M8 having problems between Harthill and Edinburgh, looks like a few stuck HGVs. Picked this webcam shot near Newhouse as you can easily see the snow!
  10. Yep, it's white here now and hammering it down... Let's keep going with the reverse psychology
  11. It's a slushy mess out there now, heavy showers are starting as wet snow then starting to settle before melting after the shower clears. Anything tonight is likely to be temporary here. We've had some decent falling snow over the last week or two and like others I'm hoping we get something less marginal where the snow sticks for more than 24hours before I concentrate on storm season, which was pretty much nonexistent here last summer!
  12. When I say low levels I mean below 300m, so we might have some slush on the ground tomorrow while @Northern Strath is building an igloo! (IIRC) Ps snowing here again.
  13. The UKMO had a milder sector moving in tonight with the strong winds which may hamper snowfall to lower levels in places...
  14. We've just had a pretty heavy wet snow shower too. The Meto weather warning looks promising for tonight for many in the west/central areas away from the coast. 15. Pelting it down here now with huge flakes I'm moving slightly higher up the hill for next winter, looking forward to it! 20220206_101656.mp4
  16. Still a chance, it's getting colder here as we now have a dusting but the showers have been heavy.
  17. Some pretty heavy wet snow showers blowing through this morning but not really accumulating yet other than some slush on the car windscreens.
  18. Haha, winter was declared over already! New meto warnings out for snow over the weekend, they just cover here... P.s still snowing but it's melting at the same rate so a bit of a slushfest!
  19. Yep, coming down very heavy here now and lying. Meto text forecast has wintry showers for the rest of the day and then a band of snow moving in tomorrow morning although haven't looked at the charts for that yet 20220204_082101.mp4
  20. Do you need proof in order to get the next snow chase house move approved? this is the best I can do for now, but starting to get light and the snow/hail is back on!
  21. Ouch, sorry to hear that - just saw that on the BBC so at least you're famous! Good luck with the rebuild.
  22. I think they heard you as there is now a full weekend of wind warnings It's certainly a bit more exciting than endless low cloud and drizzle I guess!
