  1. Woke up at 5am and we hadn't really had any more snow as most of it was north of the central belt. We've since had about an inch of snow from this band. There should be more showers here throughout the day but as its nearly spring we'll be into melt between the showers season.
  2. It's all fine @Ruzzi is going to set up a live stream for @edo now so he can join that erm website..
  3. Yeah so much better than the slushy stuff we've had recently. Coming down heavily, looking forward to hopefully more later! Quite funny watching out the window as all the neighbours are doing the same!!
  4. Boom! Big flash and everything is white with hail and snow. Spent about 10mins watching for lightning, moved away from the window then it happened
  5. UKV doesn't show that many showers overnight, albeit the models normally underestimate these situations. I would be happy with this chart for tomorrow morning with temperatures below freezing... There is another band like this early evening but not sure if that may be sleet/rain.
  6. Upgrade in terms of lightning but they've taken a bit off the snow depths and not mentioned that in the summary!
  7. Meto forecasts don't often get as good as this... Outlook for Thursday to Saturday: Heavy, perhaps thundery, snow showers Thursday dying out later, some significant accumulations possible. Drier, brighter and less windy Friday but milder and windier again Saturday, with occasional rain later. Updated: 16:00 (UTC) on Tue 22 Feb 2022
  8. Cracking weather warning out for most areas away from the east/south on Wed/Thurs now... I notice they've kept your favourite phrase in there about the coast @Kirkcaldy Weather "Temperatures across Scotland and Northern Ireland are expected to drop sharply following a squally band of rain on Wednesday, with frequent heavy and blustery snow showers arriving from the Atlantic. Away from immediate west-facing coasts, 2-5 cm, and in places 7-10 cm of snow is likely to build up even at low levels, whereas on higher ground some places could see 20-30 cm building up by Thursday morning. The showers will be accompanied by strong, blustery winds, with gusts of 50-60 mph possible, and a small chance of 70 mph on coasts. Blizzard conditions are likely over higher ground. There is a very small chance that some of the showers could be accompanied by frequent lightning, which may could impact power supplies. Snow showers are increasingly likely to turn back to rain and sleet at low levels later Thursday morning and early afternoon, although remaining as snow above 200-300 m UK weather warnings WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. 9. Yeah there was a strike showing just north of killie earlier so you probably did.
  10. We seemed to have missed the worst so far but a big blob incoming, presumably before we're back to rain.. Edit : sleety pish already
  11. That'll be the cold air back, it's currently snowing sideways on the strong wind!
  12. Ouch. The rain was very heavy last night too, our nearest Sepa rain gauge is showing 2inches from the last 24 hours and we missed most of the showers yesterday. The burn that runs along the side of the flat has burst its banks for the first time since I moved in here in October!
  13. Haha I was about to post that. I can't remember ever being under a level 3! Even stranger to be under a level 3 Estofex and no meto warning...
  14. This is a really straightforward way of displaying weather warnings...
  15. Pretty amazing the difference just a few miles up the road makes. I think you got more snow from the showers a few weeks ago and I've got more from the front today! Snow back on here now. We had a bit more on the car than I thought!
  16. The sky is still grey here but the snow is slowly melting. The wrap around drizzle/snizzle is about to move in so will see what happens. Some of the precip out west looks heavier than I expected by this point so there's still a chance of more....
  17. Yeah we're right on the edge of the front now, some of the models had us sitting on the edge for a few hours while it pivots but we may just miss that - who knows.
  18. Going pretty well now, we must've had about an inch of new snow since I got up which is properly sticking.
  19. A wet slushy covering here and snowing. Like others, it must've started as rain too otherwise we should have an inch or two by now!
  20. ECM looks ok, similar to what the UKV shows. Deepest snow is over the south and eastern highlands from this but generally the system seems to be moving through a bit quicker than was predicted earlier in the week I think?
  21. It's a tough one, 06Z UKV still looks fine and the Meto warning is in line with that - heavy precip with temps hovering around freezing or below for most... Although they will of course have access to more overlays than I do as I can only freely see the precip and temperature for it.
  22. Meto warning updated and moved north as expected. The mention of 30cm of snow has gone and more emphasis on decent accumulations for the hills, but still mentions 5cm for low levels away from the coast posisble. UK weather warnings WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. Choose your location to keep up to date with local weather warnings.
  23. GFS 6Z has the worst of the snow north of the central belt. Central belt south is a sleety mess with snow turning to rain apart from the hills. I've never liked the GFS (although there have been a fair few snow events that were predicted to turn back to rain and never did!)
  24. Yr.no has us down as 1c and heavy sleet for hours, that will probably be about right
  25. It's gone so far north that the central belt potentially becomes the dividing line of the snow/rain, biggest risk but it should also be where the heaviest precip is. Definite risk of sleety nonsense again though!
