  1. Yep, soaked on the school run! Friday looks a little more interesting...
  2. February so far can be described with one reaction here (at least weather wise) - "Yawn" . We've had much heavier than expected drizzle which wasn't really visible on the radar, that's about as exciting as it has been here, the sun has barely been visible too. I'll still be excited by a late winter or early spring snowfall but otherwise I'm with @Glaswegianblizzard - roll on spring and summer for some daylight Anyway I'll stop moaning for now.. Glad to hear thay you're on the mend @Blitzen!
  3. Cold with some light rain this morning which took care of the last of the snow cover which survived from Monday. Its still pretty chilly in the wind and it was very grey down the beach at Troon earlier. One decent snow event before the end of winter would be good but I'm also looking forward to some warm spring sunshine now
  4. Looks like an increasing chance of some showers making it to the Glasgow area down towards Ayrshire this afternoon? Fingers crossed! I haven't managed to get a photo but there are some nice lines of anvils visible to the west against the clear blue skies The next best chance looks like overnight Wednesday into Thursday as the winds veer more westerly...
  5. Not the best video so that I don't wake up the whole house, but more snow than I expected tonight! 20230115_232310.mp4
  6. Sorry should've clarified its the ice warning, which mentions snow accumulations of 2-5cm possible above 100m with chance of snow to lower levels. UK weather warnings WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. Choose your location to keep up to date with local weather warnings.
  7. I wasn't mad.. Glasgow has just been added to the warning. Now to see whether it's cold rain or snow....
  8. I probably shouldn't post this as it'll mess it up.... But the precip out west seems further north than expected? A surprise snowfall/sleet fest possible further north than the warning area? (compared to UKV
  9. Yep, if you look at the traffic overlay for the Kilmarnock area on Google maps all roads in and out are having major problems for miles. Approaching 2 inches of rain for the last 36hours here, again.... Still raining heavily in Ayrshire! Edit:heavy wet snow now falling Scottish Rainfall Data - provided by Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) WWW2.SEPA.ORG.UK Rainfall data for Scotland.
  10. Yeah I just saw the long list of roads closed by the police due to fallen trees! It has been very wet and windy, but as you say it's not exactly been a big storm. I guess it's the completely waterlogged ground playing a big part too. Sleet has almost turned to snow here but looks like we'll be running out of precip soon.
  11. Just looked out the window and I'm shocked to see wet snow falling!
  12. Some potential here according to the NW Medium range model plus what @Kirkcaldy Weather posted earlier. I haven't checked anymore charts though
  13. I'm surprised the meto warning doesn't cover the west/south-west on Tuesday given rain is expected today, tomorrow and then this on Tuesday.... especially after recent flooding.
  14. Happy new year all! After 5 or 6 hours of snow last night we've only got about an inch of snow on the fence and a covering elsewhere which is melting. I woke up to an avalanche of snow and ice falling from the solar panels this morning! It's going to be a tad slippery tonight when the slush on the street refreezes.
  15. Cars and grass are white here, street is slushy and still coming down. Looks like as @Kayemill said it'll probably die down for a bit before the band over northern England makes it way north in the early hours. ..
  16. Moderate to heavy here and starting to settle so you never know if we can keep the heavy stuff going!
  17. Warning out, 200m+ I'm right on the edge here so will need to see what happens I guess! Edit: @Ruzzi beat me by about 3 seconds Further details Issued: 10:12 (UTC) on Sat 31 Dec 2022 Spells of hill snow developing over southern Scotland Saturday evening will gradually clear northwards by the end of the night. Some sleet and snow may fall down to around 100 m at times but bulk of accumulations will be above 200 metres where 2-5 cm of snow is likely for some and perhaps 10 cm on some of the highest routes.
  18. Most stations in the yellow rain warning area have recorded around 40-50mm of rain with 80mm near Moffat in the Amber area. Like others, we've had high winds and a lot of heavy rain overnight. I haven't been out today but there is a huge puddle behind the house! I've seen a few problems caused by the rain locally online, mostly under railway bridges where the drains tend to get clogged but other areas too. We've had worse rain events but after a week of heavy rain it's no surprise there have been problems. 19. M74 isn't looking great unless you have a boat @Ravelin....photo half way down the page. Flooding sparks travel disruption as amber weather warning issued WWW.BBC.CO.UK Floods have cause widespread issues in the south of Scotland, with further alerts in the central belt.
  20. Yep, latest meto rain warning just out for Friday mentions the risk with additional warnings likely for high ground north of the cental belt
  21. Doesn't last long if its anything like here, back to rain and a rapid thaw of what's left of the ice and snow.
