  1. Looking forward to the up to 40cm of snow warning for it to disappear on Saturday
  2. And... the GFS goes slightly further south (so far) ... athough the MOD think its gone north? (maybe further north the next day where I've not seen it update on NW yet) Not much in it either way... think it maybe a case of using the window at the time! Nope definitely further south to my eye!
  3. Saturday is the new Friday for us... But like others have said, I'm not convinced on the low missing us to the south yet especially when the fax chart has it further north. Still all to play for and although generally lows get moved south as we get closer to events, I've also seen some correct back half way north with very short notice Looking like some more chances over the next week too!
  4. Warning text has just been updated, snow throughout the day on Friday with 30-40cm still mentioned for the same areas...
  5. GFS, UKV, fax charts and met office text forecast all take the snow through Scotland so I wouldn't be so sure of that shift south of the border yet (I've not checked the others but appreciate ECM goes South). Met office also starting to mention the chance of more sleet and snow coming in over the weekend too....
  6. A surprise heavy ish snow shower has just formed over Glasgow and we now have an unexpected dusting of snow
  7. Light snow falling here in the sunshine, one of the benefits of the stronger sun is that there are more showers around.
  8. For the sake of everyone living in the central belt who wants snow please don't take the day off as it'll definitely not snow then Latest GFS brings the front in overnight Thursday into Friday but snow turns to rain/sleet central belt south Thursday morning so we could do with a slight shift back south down here... plenty of time for it to go either way though at this range so I'll not raise my hopes until Thursday morning if it's still showing as we've been here far too many times!
  9. Sunshine! Oh actually, it's beginning to disappear, but it was nice to be out in it yesterday afternoon and first thing this morning which also came with the first frost of the month (I think). On another note, I just got my badge for being a member here for 20 years - oh dear, the search for snow is still nearly always at day 10+
  10. Yep, UKV has been showing some very strong gusts possible from the last few runs...
  11. Yep, soaked on the school run! Friday looks a little more interesting...
  12. February so far can be described with one reaction here (at least weather wise) - "Yawn" . We've had much heavier than expected drizzle which wasn't really visible on the radar, that's about as exciting as it has been here, the sun has barely been visible too. I'll still be excited by a late winter or early spring snowfall but otherwise I'm with @Glaswegianblizzard - roll on spring and summer for some daylight Anyway I'll stop moaning for now.. Glad to hear thay you're on the mend @Blitzen!
  13. Cold with some light rain this morning which took care of the last of the snow cover which survived from Monday. Its still pretty chilly in the wind and it was very grey down the beach at Troon earlier. One decent snow event before the end of winter would be good but I'm also looking forward to some warm spring sunshine now
  14. Looks like an increasing chance of some showers making it to the Glasgow area down towards Ayrshire this afternoon? Fingers crossed! I haven't managed to get a photo but there are some nice lines of anvils visible to the west against the clear blue skies The next best chance looks like overnight Wednesday into Thursday as the winds veer more westerly...
  15. Not the best video so that I don't wake up the whole house, but more snow than I expected tonight! 20230115_232310.mp4
  16. Sorry should've clarified its the ice warning, which mentions snow accumulations of 2-5cm possible above 100m with chance of snow to lower levels. UK weather warnings WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. Choose your location to keep up to date with local weather warnings.
  17. I wasn't mad.. Glasgow has just been added to the warning. Now to see whether it's cold rain or snow....
  18. I probably shouldn't post this as it'll mess it up.... But the precip out west seems further north than expected? A surprise snowfall/sleet fest possible further north than the warning area? (compared to UKV
  19. Yep, if you look at the traffic overlay for the Kilmarnock area on Google maps all roads in and out are having major problems for miles. Approaching 2 inches of rain for the last 36hours here, again.... Still raining heavily in Ayrshire! Edit:heavy wet snow now falling Scottish Rainfall Data - provided by Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) WWW2.SEPA.ORG.UK Rainfall data for Scotland.
  20. Yeah I just saw the long list of roads closed by the police due to fallen trees! It has been very wet and windy, but as you say it's not exactly been a big storm. I guess it's the completely waterlogged ground playing a big part too. Sleet has almost turned to snow here but looks like we'll be running out of precip soon.
  21. Just looked out the window and I'm shocked to see wet snow falling!
