  1. BBC going for gusts up to 63 mph here on Tuesday. They usually increase closer to the event, I'm guessing this one will be the opposite.
  2. Coming on lightly here, bit odd as the met and bbc have it at 0% chance of precip at the moment...
  3. Seemed to peak around 5-6am here with max gusts in the low 50s. Pretty much exactly what was forecast and other than a few bins blown over not much disruption or damage, in this area anyway.
  4. That's what the yellow warning is for. Amber should be 65mph + and red 80mph +.
  5. 50 - 55mph winds aren't worth an amber warning anywhere in the UK in my opinion and those are the speeds being forecast for most areas. Some disruption is likely but those speeds are unlikely to cause significant or widespread damage.
  6. To be fair that's mostly down to the fact that there are more southern members. How many active Scottish members do we have... 20 - 30 maybe?
  7. Moderately heavy snow here for the last hour or so, already a decent covering.
  8. Dull, fairly mild but not overly wet just about sums autumn up in the central belt. One thing that has been noticeable is a lack of windy days. There hasn't really been anything stormy and only a couple of near gale force windy days. Probably mostly due to the more southerly tracking lp's. I can't remember too many passing between Iceland and Scotland recently, they seem to be consistently passing directly over the UK.
  9. Mine has been occasionally very slow, 30 secs plus per page on the phone. It loads fine when I first come on to NW and usually for the first thing I click but when I go to home and then try to go on to another thread it starts running slow.
  10. Quick windy here, much higher than the forecast 25 - 30mph gusts, more like 45 mph at the moment.
  11. Seems to be increasing confidence of a deep low over or near the UK next Friday. Looks unpleasant on the gfs, possibly quite stormy.
  12. I'd take the ecm over the gfs at day 10 all day. Gfs has 60-70 mph winds across the northern half of the UK, maybe higher. Ecm is at least sending a less deep low much further south.
  13. Yellow warning for ice... in October. With a forecast low of 4c here it seems a bit odd.
  14. GFS goes for something different for a change with the trough staying further west. Probably gone on the next run but it was from day 9 so not right out in fi.
  15. GFS looks even worse in FI, big storm over the UK on the 2nd with 80mph gusts. Hopefully it's gone on the next run.
  16. Deary me the GFS has the same low just twirling about over the UK from weds until Sunday... and then another one early the following week.... no thanks.
  17. Warnings all around but none actually covering my area, although it's hard to see that from the farce of a warning map.
  18. I was indeed apologies. I don't like over using quotes as certain other forums I'm on frown on that.
  19. Wet but probably not extreme, winds probably won't be an issue away from exposed areas although a large area is covered by a yellow wind warning.
  20. The warning system covers the UK not just England...
  21. It's the final step before a red warning too, if the forecast doesn't change in the next 24 hrs we might get a rare red rain warning.
  22. Looks like it gets pushed away 2 days later though then we're back in the trough until the end of the run.
  23. If another country names a storm it should be irrelevant to us. Unless the incoming weather is likely to prompt Amber warnings for rain or wind or possibly snow in the UK then it shouldn't be named in my opinion. At that point we should adopt the same name as whatever it has been given by other countries or name it ourselves if it hasn't been named yet.
  24. Which day is Babet supposed to be here? There are warnings for various areas from Wed's until Saturday...
