  1. Warmest day of the year so far here too at 21C, probably be beaten tomorrow.
  2. The gov will backtrack on that part of the online safety bill if enough tech/social media companies threaten to withdraw from the UK. If fb withdraws thousands of jobs will be lost as many businesses use it for advertising. If Google threatened to pull out millions of jobs would be in danger, they'll have no option but to amend it.
  3. True although given the tediously slow pace of missions and lack of funding it'll be at least another generation before we're making any real progress, moon base, Mars mission etc.
  4. So it was a high end vei 5, almost 6. Just goes to show the damage a 6 or 7 would do, not just to the local area but the whole country if it happened on land.
  5. Mines is generally in the 21 - 24C range with minimal heating. With an outside temp of 10C it never goes much below 18C indoors. Quite rainy today, in fact it's the longest period of rain I can remember this year so far.
  6. Lacking windy days too, just one yellow warning for wind since the autumn which is quite unusual up here. There hasn't been an Amber warning in over 3 years now.
  7. Think it's safe to say the chances of any significant low level snow are pretty much over after this week.
  8. Turned heavy with big chunky snow here, starting to settle but it'll be gone in a couple of hours when it goes off.
  9. Bit of a waste of snow here. It has been on and off, light to moderate for a few hrs but it's not sticking at all away from the grass. Better conditions and it would've easily been an inch +.
  10. A dusting here too but it'll be gone tomorrow morning as soon as the sun gets to it. Barely had 1cm here all winter.
  11. If there's no snow event in the reliable or being picked up by the met by the first week in March then it's not going to happen. A few flurries maybe but nothing of note at lower level once you get past mid March.
  12. I'm in the North West maybe not the far NW but the central belt. There have been named storms affecting mostly Scotland that had next to no impact here other than a breezy day. For me a yellow warning would be enough there's no need to name every moderately deep low pressure system that comes close to us. Those in the NW are most used to those conditions too, especially on the islands which regularly get 60 - 80mph winds during the winter.
  13. March can absolutely still be cold and have lying snow but much like early November it needs almost perfect conditions. As soon as the sun gets to it then it'll be gone in a few hours.
  14. I'd maybe up it to 60mph. 50mph would be unpleasant to walk in and possibly dangerous if somebody decided to go hill walking but it's not likely to result in bridge closures, travel disruption or damage. Plus is there really any need for a named storm and the publicity that goes with it if it's only affecting the far NW and maybe a few thousand people? I can see why they factor things like that into it to avoid sensationalist headlines. A storm should only be named if it's likely to affect at least the majoirty of one country in the UK in my opinion.
  15. Apparently a max gust of 64 mph here at 5am although that's not very reliable since it's 15 miles away. Seemed to be peaking at around 50mph at lower levels.
  16. Warning for Tuesday now reduced to cover less than half of the mainland. Bit of a farce really, no model was showing damaging winds across the southern half of Scotland, absolutely no need for a warning 3 days in advance...
  17. Wind warning for most of Scotland on Tuesday night, bit odd as the forecast wind speeds through the central belt don't even reach 40 mph.
  18. Absolutely nothing here other than a light dusting overnight into Tuesday which is now gone. There hasn't really been a decent snowy spell here since Feb 21.
  19. Very pleasant day at the football today (not). It has been windy all day but not quite reaching the 50-55 mph that the met were suggesting.
  20. Quite foggy here at the moment, strange to think it's supposed to be clear and breezy in 3 hrs as it currently looks like a typical foggy night.
  21. Bit of a non even here. Some light to moderate snow overnight and early morning but it only gave a light covering before quickly thawing when it turned to sleet. It's currently raining with just some patchy slush left.
  22. Coldest night I can remember in a while here, probably since 2010 with a low of -10C, not ideal when the boilers not working. Even the sheds resident spiders are struggling...
  23. It's nothing like 2010 or 2009 up here, even 2020 was better in terms of snow depth and lying snow. Min temps are not too far away at -7c last night but those temps were reached about 15 times during Dec 2010.
