  1. Coldest night I can remember in a while here, probably since 2010 with a low of -10C, not ideal when the boilers not working. Even the sheds resident spiders are struggling...
  2. It's nothing like 2010 or 2009 up here, even 2020 was better in terms of snow depth and lying snow. Min temps are not too far away at -7c last night but those temps were reached about 15 times during Dec 2010.
  3. Sleety for about half an hour in Mwell but if anything it was turning more to rain than snow.
  4. Light snow here too, settling readily but there won't be much accumulation with it being so light.
  5. It looks like being cold and foggy rather than cold and snowy in the central belt according to the met. Max 20% chance of precip up until Sunday.
  6. The GFS looks a bit lost for the first week of Nov. The low is just twirling around Iceland occasionally drifting over us. It's a bit of a stuck pattern at the moment but c'mon...
  7. Gfs goes full on stormy across the South next weekend and then the north on Nov 2nd into 3rd. I'd usually say it's over playing those lows but the one next weekend is within 10 days...
  8. It's reduced quite noticeably in the winter but it never stops completely.
  9. Rain, drizzle, briefly dry but cloudy, heavy rain then drizzle just about sums up today.
  10. The trough is really getting squeezed hard by day 10, possibly a path to a more settled spell as the lp has nowhere to go other than ne.
  11. If the models are accurate for the next 10 days there'll probably be flooding by the end of next week. I seem to remember a different pattern but a similar rainy period at the end of last Oct with the 27th - 30th being pretty much constant rain.
  12. Lots of rain in the sw and Wales but it doesn't look like there's going to be much in the se where it's needed...
  13. The ecm is doing a gfs with that low at day 9-10. If that actually happened somewhere will be getting 80mph winds at the end of next week...
  14. Windy and raining for most of the day here, that pretty much covers every day this week.
  15. Quite unusual at under 48 hrs to see so much uncertainty, that's more like what you'd expect a week out.
  16. Not yet, no need until it goes below 20c indoors which generally equates to about 13c or below outside. Usually between early Oct and mid to late April.
  17. Torrential downpour just moved through Mwell along with very close and loud lightning/thunder... hard to say where it struck but the flash was clear even with the blinds shut so i'm guessing nearby.
  18. Decent spell of lightning from about 10 - 11pm, every 10 seconds or so... very little rain though just a brief shower. 20220814_222828.mp4
  19. Lots of lightning around Motherwell for the last hour or so. 20220814_223030.mp4
  20. Shows how badly Motherwell, Hamilton or Wishaw need a weather station. Drumalbin is my 'local' station even though it's about 15 miles away and at higher elevation...
  21. Peaked at 28c here, warmest day in 4 years but it's only really at the upper end of the normal max summer temps.
  22. What's the peak in Scotland? It looks like today will be hotter than tomorrow in the west...
  23. As I suspected it looks like peak might be today up here as there's more cloud and possibly showers tomorrow. 29c forecast both days which seems to be the cap, I can't remember it ever reaching 30c even on the day the Scottish record was set although that's bad enough with the upstairs temp likely getting into the high 30s. First time i've seen a tropical night forecast here too but I think it might just drop below 20c for an hour or two.
  24. My bedroom which is always the warmest as it faces west and has a 10 foot window is currently at 26.8c, not great considering it's only 17c outside at the moment. The peak so far this year was 31.0c last week with 23c outdoor temps. The bathroom is even worse for some reason, I can actually feel the jump in temp when I go in there so it must have been at least 35c. In general the upstairs temp tends to be about 8c higher than it is outside.
  25. You would think so but the mid terrace i'm in now is definitely warmer during the summer than the tower that I used to live in (14th floor). I think the direction and size of windows plays a part too, it's always noticeable warmer in the back/west facing bedroom.
