At last some dry cold weather.
just took the dog for a walk up to rivington pike. Lovely views of west Lancashire down to the coast of Southport & Blackpool in the distance. In the East of the region, views of Oldham, down into Tameside and Manchester City centre.
Beautiful winters day. Only thing missing is about 30cm of snow- 3

On two Brian gaze is saying milder air wins through middle of next week
Well considering our default weather pattern is Atlantic driven, he might well be correct. Then again, he might not be.

Then topple.
The MetO seem bullish on colder weather to approach us. So some hope to be upbeat.
As I’ve stated before, Ignore the MetO at your peril.
I’ve seen The ECM & the GFS promise the goods only for the MetO to have none of it. And they’ve been correct..anyway, onto the GFS 18z and let’s see how many low pressure systems it can spew out across the Atlantic. Lol

My question for IDO is why not comment on any of the 0z’s models but a soon as the GFS 6z backtracks, you are all over the MOD thread like a rash?
not a dig, but a general question why you vanish when this often happens. ?- 13

Some excellent charts this morning..
I always feel more happier when the MetO are singing from the same hymn sheet.
fingers crossed that December comes in with a huge bang.- 6

Strangely i thought different can't remember if it was last year are the year before but they were way off the mark must look back and see which year it was.
Last year the Spanish met were bang on the money with their winter forecast of drier than average winter..

Interesting 12z runs from the models.. certainly an eye opener.. could winter be coming in with a bang or will it all collapse within the next 48 hours lol

Amazing how fast the year goes these days. Summer has just flown by - it's felt like a really short summer this year - it's only really been summer from end of June until end of August this year. Whereas Summer 2018 really started in early May.
Doesn't feel that long ago since last October.
Poor summer this year.
Was warmer in February lol -
Greetings to everyone.
Well, a disappointing summer to say the least. Rainfall this summer has been horrendous.
I see some tabloids are already banging the drum that this winter is going to be the coldest in decades. Once bitten, twice shy. I’ll believe it when I see it.

BBC forecast showed snow showers coming in from the North Sea throughout the day so plenty of opportunity for parts of the region to see something.
Coming down very nice now

My parents always said that the snowstorm in 1940 possibly January but not sure was heavier here than anything in either 47 or 63.
a hell of a statement to make given the mythical like status those 2 have reached but aparantly the level snow was over 3 feet deep.
big question is would it have warranted a Met O amber warning or being up here, would a yellow have been enough
People were more tougher back in the day. 3 feet of level snow is some feat.
Kids get sent home from school now for 2cm
