  1. Although without the accuracy re, depth it is useless
  2. Wow can you post this to the Met Office they said they would like tweets showing the snow! Might make them answer what constitutes an amber
  3. The wind was a lot worse at altitude severe gales up here but in Wilmslow it never really got bad at all.
  4. Yes there’s been a discussion on twitter between Buxton Weather Watch and Chris Fawkes about the lack of warning. He was the one forecaster that seemed interested!
  5. The strongest winds are forecast for high ground and on westward slopes
  6. We have a warning of wind out starting at midnight, hope that doesn’t mean it gets worse at midnight
  7. Snowing again here. Covering the road again where it has just been cleared. I really would not be that surprised at reports of freezing rain or pellets or temporary rising dew points considering we are now partly behind a warm front and an upper warm front so unusual mixtures of air masses at different levels in the atmosphere
  8. Glad I got my girlfriend to get out of Taunton this morning she would have blamed me if she had had to spend the night on the M5
  9. Anyway! Channel fives’s programme on the weather is coming from Macclesfield
  10. Unlikely yes. But I’ve seen stranger things and someone is reporting rain.
  11. I can imagine ice pellets or maybe freezing rain because of the upper warm front
  12. It’s dangerous out there. Very. I wonder whether the Met Office winter relies on radar and models or official repeats and doesn’t trust what people are telling them.
  13. Yes same here in Bollington everyone out helping.
  14. Snow falling and covering the road. Wind still blowing a gale.
  15. Amber warning extended in the South. Meanwhile the drifts pile up outside!
  16. It is the most severe snow storm I have ever experienced here and I am 45 now. There is also now structural damage around the town being reported as well as no clear way out by car anymore
  17. I have always defended the Met Office but I think it is a big fail today. Dangerous blizzard conditions all day and Now severe winds bringing ice laden trees down and causing damage. I think an amber warning was warranted. When I questioned them they told me that the yellow warning was adequate for depths up to 15cm! Not sure they believed the depths that have been reported to them from these parts
  18. I think there is still snow falling but hard to tell with this wind. Stupidly windy it has already smashed my gate off its hinges and is causing chaos
  19. Walked up that way this morning to have a look! Worse now than it was then I hear.
  20. This is Sugar Lane out of Bollington. Local paper reported that some roads had a little ice on them.
  21. Yes 4 roads closed round here with trees down along with about 7 with snow the roads that are open are crawling. I think some trees look covered in sheets of ice
  22. Conditions out there are as serious as I have ever seen them. Very dangerous now the wind is gale force and it’s snowing again
