I wouldn't be totally so quick to rule out snow, settling snow will probably limited to the west 50milesor so the band, but I'd bet most places see at least some snow. I'd not be at all surprised if somewhere gets 5cms tomorrow, though obviously best places will be on higher ground.
If the skies were to clear overnight on snow covered ground, would that aid our chances. It looks like staying cloudy here, though.

No, metres.
To be honest tomorrow is looking very, very limited for snow potential now. There will be a lucky few but for the most of us it will either be dry or rain.
Ah damn. Well I suppose it's just being greedy after today's great surprise.
-
So the snowline, assuming there is precipitation, for tomorrow will be a 100 ft above sea level, is that correct?

The rain isn't making it over the northern north downs though. Looks to be dry and cold soon. Is there a chance for anything tomorrow. I'm thinking no.
Why? So you think the precipitation will be too far to the south. This time we must hope it comes a bit further north.
-
So how long till the precipitation dies out, and, more importantly, will it remain as snow? -
So there is still the dreaded warm sector to come? That means the snow will turn back to rain again):

I went to bed with rain pelting the window. I woke up a few minutes ago and heard no rain,, so i looked out the window- and to my great surprise, it's not only snowing, but there is a good dusting of snow!! Wow!!

Pretty sure it will start as rain snow later
It is snow here. I am not lying- granted i am on slightly higher ground here than most other people.

So i did not have to travel. I expect it will turn back to rain, but nice to see snow falling for a time!

Met Office currently has the snow line around Watford (North London), hoping tomorrrows outputs bring that down 10-15 miles south to give many of us a chance..
So i may only have to travel 13 miles to see some snow then!! Great!!!

Hi shaky my quote is you from 13 hours ago lol its stuck
no northward progression- ECM identical to JMA at 48
Thats a worry for many as thats a big step south...
If it goes south is that not better for those of us who are further south?

Wendover Woods (highest point in the Chiltern) usually get some snow in similar setups. It should be half an hour drive once you reach the A41 if you live in north west london. Obviously no guarantee but it is a nice forest even if no snow is foud there. I will keep you updated about this during the next few days with regard to any snow cover in the Chilterns area.
Thanks for your reply. I am always interested in discovering new places, and i like forests, so even if it does not snow it will be a nice day out! Thanks again.

Still too much uncertainty to rule out snow for Sunday, as the low may still track further south then advertised. There is always a chance of snow in the northerly flow as the low clears Monday morning too.
Hi,
How many miles north or north west of London would you have to be to see snow if it tracks as depicted? I am hoping you will say not more than 60 miles!

Good evening,
Welcome to the forum and this enclave, nice to have a Londoner we do not have many. I and all apologise for what your eyes may have seen, typically it’s much more subdued. Snow fever is setting in.
You might not need to travel at all... by Friday we’ll have a good idea.
Thanks for your warm welcome and reply Daniel. I am in fact an Irish man living in London, who obviously loves snow.. I do hope your right that i can stay put!

Good evening everyone,
First time poster. I am living in North West London. I am not expecting any snow here, so if the snow won't come to me, i will go to it!
With this in mind, how far north of London would I have to travel to see snow from the slider on Monday.

I just got back from Wendover Wood. It was awesome up there!! I 'd say there was about six inches of snow on the ground. The temperature according to my car was 0.5 up there. It's a balmy 4.5 here.
