It's just cloudy here. Parts of Ireland are getting hammered by snow now. I can't tell lie, i'm jealous.

I’m all for a snow day with the kids I really am it’s just that parents seem to live next to the school and then drive them in lol ...
I agree with that. People don't walk enough these days.

That unfortunately can happen at any time hence what happened near me in Hayes ... so it’s not just snow events !
Oh i know it can happen any time. There is a school near me that gives a stark reminder of this outside of its gates, there is a sign that says a child is killed every hour by a Vehicle. I just think in these conditions the rate could increase without these precautions being taken. I have had motorists encouraging me to hurry up while driving. I was going 35 miles an hour on secondary roads that had compacted snow on them with temperatures below freezing. So it was not as if i was driving like a nervous ninny.

Why do they shut schools fgs ! We already have a breed of snowflake children ( so the government say ) we played in the snow ,Walked to school ... teachers even walked in ! Only time we was sent home is if the heating went down ...
I would prefer this approach be taken than to be reading about a child being killed or injured on there way to school. Have you seen how some people drive recklessly in these conditions?

I wonder how much snow the Chilterns has. I was thinking of heading up there but that would be a risky, so i'll leave it.

Seems unlikely, any further snow now will come from any bands associated with the low out to the SW.
Lets just hope it can pivot north eastwards later this evening or tomorrow. Places in Ireland and the south west of England are getting pasted with snow now

I am getting greedy for more snow:)
Is there any chance of another streamer developing today after this front passes through? I am thinking the low coming up from France will stop that happening.

So the frontal band won't kill off the shower streamers. You are saying it might do the opposite??

Snow is very light now- falling almost like that rare phenomenon(rain) we sometime get in these parts. Look like the forecast for patchy snow yesterday was spot on,

looks like West London is 8n the game for later this afternoon
The temperature for London there looks a bit high- bizarre saying that at this time of year. It's still -2 here.

How much have you got? We're not too far away from each other and the totals we got here are minimal.
8 cm generally, 12- 13 in drifts. I should point out I live about 250 foot above sea level, though.

Snow beginning to drift now in the wind! Time for another walk soon!

If we got blizzard- like conditions here it would be brilliant. I could not ask for anymore:)

Just woke up to find it snowing! Snow is getting heavier now!

Is this going to be a repeat of March 2013 all over again?

@Bricriu the remains of the streamers early on still giving light showers across London. 1am radar update looking good low and associated precip now around 50 miles north east of HIRlam modelling at this time. looking really could for all in south tomorrow. believe it or not central London currently looking the sweet spot that will have the Met office worried when they wake up!!
the snow has stopped here now, it's just cloudy. i wonder will it clear up before the precipitation from the low gets here? or will it just suddenly starts snowing again?
-
Very light snow here now for the last hour. is this associated with the low or is it just weak showers coming in off the north sea?

Home after chaos on the rails again.....train failures and points problems aplenty today.
If the HIRLAM grabs are correct, the worst is yet to come....you'd think that some warnings would be extended already though, given that it already visible in the Channel....
I think you mean the best is maybe yet to come

I'm with you mate!
This is probably my favourite snow day I have experienced thus far, including the infamous 18th December 2010 day which bought 10inches to my area. I have never felt it so biting cold!
The difference with this day (For my area) is that the cold and snow is just kept on going and going!
Yes. While 2010 may have had more accumulated snow, this is just jaw dropping in terms of cold(-1 c here all day). We'd struggle to get this in the depths of winter during a cold spell, so it's just amazing to think it 's the end of February.
