  1. A white frosty morning here to start. Netwx forecast suggests possible v light snow in the next hour, and same for tomorrow morning. Radar has something heading possibly this way. We shall see!
  2. Bit strange too. Has there been a temp increase? Thought it would be more progressive as the night continues to cool surely
  3. Managed a little walk this evening and seeing the pretty frost patterns forming on cars. Little pleasures!
  4. Highlighted the particular section as I try to avoid saying that exact line, although it is my glass half full, there's still hope... it just reminds me of last Dec.. lovely start with heavy snow after that really weird hour or 2 of thick fog (anyone else remember how strange that was?) And then after, I don't quite remember any real significance in terms of snow. It seemed to be over after a couple of weeks. Either that or my memory is just awful... the latter probably more accurate. Totally agree in how it is harder to get snow now though. The 90s iirc as a kid were great for snow. 2010.. epic! 2018, not bad... but since, not so much.
  5. I think you may be right. Make a nice change from the drizzle-fest most winters. Oh, wait...
  6. It is a shame but spot on that we have a respite!! Like others have said in mad, those disturbances are short notice so we live in hope! Thank you..
  7. Good day everyone. Hope we are all well. Quite the wet night and soggy morning today. Did feel much cooler though which seasonally speaking is pleasing. Sadly, I appear to be experiencing a little poor health so have to kick back and enjoy the weather through the window for the coming days. Or taking very, very small walks while I recover. I missed the chance to get out and enjoy clear and cold, crisp sunshine over the weekend. So hoping that even if we don't get snow, we will get some crisp sunny days to attempt those little walks where my health allows! @TN9 those videos look lovely! Very lucky folks.. im not jealous, much.. although id swap the t shirt for many more layers. I do like to be wrapped up snug for a stroll in the snow and make new memories.
  8. While you're some what true, it does seem a waste... the models "upgrading" to coin the phrase, even if it doesn't bring snow at the start isn't a waste i would suggest. It is more perspective or a subjective view. Although I completely get your point! As you know, you cannot get snow without the cold there 1st. Plus the models showing what we have now helps all the other pieces fall into place, lower dp's, lower ssts, lower T850s, lower ground temps. Plus atleast it isn't the mild mush with inevitable rain.. is that not worse than wasting the models output showing the alternative we have currently which we have become more accustomed to recently? I would take these upgrades of cold and settled over rain and mild, even if it doesn't mean there's no snow - at least not yet
  9. If we do get anything towards the end of the week (thurs/Fri seems the main risk... if at all of course...), I feel it'll be raining 1st as we see LP arrive from the SW drawing up S'ly winds, then draw in the colder air as it clears. A case of waiting for that low to begin to clear away and draw in N/NE winds and then see what happens. This of course does depend on the exact track of the low of course, and I should add I'm in no way an expert at charts. Just viewing what the mod thread post so am probably wrong
  10. Hi Paul and team. May be a silly request, but more for a bit of fun hopefully. With the mod thread having an unofficial "bingo" word game on the more popular words we see, and the term popular I use loosely... a quick Google suggested there might be such a thing as a word count mod possibly being available. Is this something netweather could consider as a bit of fun for the model output discussion and as part of the unofficial bingo game a few members are jokingly mentioning. Maybe also have members suggest some of the popular words and see by the end of the winter season just how many times aforementioned words do get used. Even a fun competition to see who can guess how many times those words get used. Thanks team!
  11. A squall line looking feature(?) associated with a cold front passing through today, or more likely IMO just possibly wind shear ahead of the front which may account for the windy conditions @scrat mentioned. Giving some notable falls of rain here though. Glad for a day of staying indoors.
  12. "Remember, Remember.. the 5th of November. A day where it barely rained" ...For the 1st time in what feels like forever! A nice change today
  13. Shame that cirrus wasn't thinner and part of a drier atmosphere. That would've been ideal for cloud iridescence.
  14. Now all that rains cleared today, it feels decidedly chilly out there this evening. Also, looking through the numerous pictures from here and the storm Ciaran thread - I'm surprised how many people own barometers. Think I need to go and do some online shopping for one myself
  15. Almost certainly the LP. There is seasonal affective disorder as well which can cause feelings of depression. Linked to less sunlight which leads to lower serotonin (mood regulation basically). A heavy head doesn't usually coincide with s.a.d (I wish they would rename this!! Pet peeve...flipping labels!) so I'd say it's likely Ciaran Try and find an activity you enjoy Emz. Something that will focus your attention.. a puzzle, reading your favourite book, playing with the pets, going for a walk (exercise = great for low mood as it releases endorphins aka "happy hormones")..All natural mood lifters. If none of the above appeals, have a chat with a friend! Or even drop me a DM if all else fails. I'm a huge advocate for better minds! Look after yourself..
  16. Sferics detected around Haywards Heath. And is this a hook echo? Right over A22
  17. It does look like according to netwx radar the centre is roughly Reading area. So the expected shift north of Ciaran once it makes "landfall" might have begun. With that in mind, the SE quadrant, and higher wind gusts should now start being felt in SE, with SW England seeing round 2 of the winds picking up again IMO
