  1. Ahh.. I did think of that but thought I'd not make any sense by referencing it. So you're sabre toothed and love acorns.. I see. Funniest character in the movies by far. Afternoon walks are great. Autumn makes for the most colourful walks too as the leaves change. And kicking the piles of leaves. More breezy now this evening too. Feels milder compared to earlier as well.
  2. Under the cloud it feels a bit chilly this afternoon. Jumper needed even. But hey ho.. its not raining! And Agnes isn't causing us problems in our little corner of the world. Hopefully everyone under Agnes is keeping safe
  3. Evening Scrat.. what an unusual name! Quaint even. Indeed a lovely evening. Phone says 16c, windows open. Quite surreal for the last week of Sept I think. Netwx 7 day forecast has 21c and feeling like 24 here on Sunday which should feel lovely. An afternoon walk shall be required!
  4. Been a lovely day here. Warm sunshine and light winds. T shirt weather cycling home from work. Not bad for late September. Very pleased
  5. Just come back from a quick walk and there is a huge, beautiful CB to my west-ish direction giving sporadic lightning but too distant for audible thunder. The only thing I can see on radar is over London. If that is the same cell.. those cloud tops are HUGE

  7. Wonder what that lot in the channel moving NE will do. Netwx storm forecast suggests that "later this evening across eastern English Channel and far SE of England – with organisation of heavy showers and possibly thunderstorms bringing a risk of localised flash-flooding." Hmm
  8. You're 21 you got a while! This evening doesn't seem particularly remarkable yes, at least here anyway. I suppose its all subjective at the end of the day. Personally I'm just happy to sit and listen to the rain with a hot chocolate
  9. Hello SR. Goòd to see you posting in here Hope you are well. All very valid points you raise. In particular the lack of consideration to expansion of housing needs and not taking into consideration how to deal with the consequences of the lack of natural drainage to put it simply. And yes, this is fairly typical autumnal weather. But in relation to global warming (which further adds to your above points), the main word and possibly the most noteworthy in this case is 'global'. With the apparent ever increasing global temperature, it is worth remembering higher temperatures will also hold higher water content (and I mean on a global scale, and to an extent on a natuonal or regional scale although perhaps not to the same extreme values as other areas would see) "Localised flooding" however should be a concern and warnings I feel were rightly issued to cover this. In my opinion when people blame global warming, they don't necessarily think of the the points you raised and only really have the news as a point of reference. So a less informed opinion (one sided so to speak) can only give a less informed decision on what we can place the blame. And when you are told the same thing constantly - some will come to terms with that being the root cause. Hope this makes sense.. I've waffled a bit
  10. Agreed. Clear with rain? Strange forecast. May as well just state that tonight we will see weathe, fill the rest in yourself
  11. I wasn't woken by storms but the ground looks wet. What I didn't see, I can't miss I suppose.
  12. Welcome back! Hope you're correct. Heard a rumble here too but was a neighbour in their flat moving something. D'oh! Netwx model suggests something.. but the next few hours are better radar watching of course.
  13. Glad you saw the reasoning behind the italics buddy. Worth keeping a viewpoint above what we hopecast when it comes to our weather. Such a fickle business Expect the worst, anything else is a win!
  14. Much talk of storm potential for us in the storm discussion. I'm a naturally pessimistic person, so believe it when I see it. More so as meto have a warning out
  15. Meto yellow alert for storms today. So a nice enough day then. @TN9 going to have wall to wall sunshine
  16. Where did you get those stats from please? Are they publicly available?
  17. Good luck to all for storms.. it is clouding over here too..
  18. Phone says 28c at 11am. I like the heat but even the past 2 days have been a little bit much for me. Will be sad to see it cool down next week but also a little relieved. Does anyone know where phones get current temperature observations from out of interest?
  19. I do remember!!! I remember sneaking into the hospital buildings with my then gf and walking up the main drive/entrance on a hot summer day back around the v early 2000s. Abandoned of course which made it such a creepy eerie place. The driveway entrance leading up to some building (reception perhaps??) reminded me of resident evil haha.. wow.. memories also found old patient records and the logs.. well! I couldn't possibly write them here. WAY too disturbing Possibly some rain Tuesday going by the fax T120 cold front heralding the change to cooler and fresher weather. We'll see if it softens the ground or runs off again.
  20. Very true buddy. It seems we either have nothing, or everything at once. Leybourne IIRC is rural? Used to walk through Leybourne on way to west malling (Ryarsh?). Pretty area but like you say, baked ground just runs off the rain. Definitely need steady rain to soak through
  21. Anyone would think it's the winter mad thread. Crazy how folks get so emotionally involved.. Bless their cottons "schadenfreude" - flipping 'eck that's a mouthful too. Kudos on such a word.
