It was the area of countryside south of Gatwick Airport called the Sussex weald, I think its known to be colder at night than surrounding areas in winter. To be fair at the time I think there was slightly milder air further north as Atlantic air crept up and around the high whereas the high was centred over the south. (Could be wrong)
It got down to around 4c here, but I was on a train going through sussex countryside last Monday morning and all the fields there were covered in frost.

I've enjoyed this October, it's had summer warmth, winter frost, gales, heavy rainfall and quite a good amount of sun here, another decent sunny morning with some heavy downpours over the channel that can be seen from here! 8/10.
Winds are stronger here now babet has moved through coming in from the south west, always the strongest wind direction here, rain also easing.
Is this just a secondary low from the parent low known as babet passing through from the south? I'm a bit confused...
I know how it all works by the way, I was just commenting on how it's lucky to get a frost here in October, and below average daytime temps. Wasn't asking why lol but thanks.
