All gone by half past 6 here with a tiny bit of slush left on the car opposite. Not sure what your elevation is but that does seem to have made a difference with how extensive the small covering was.
I apologise for the beautiful amount of pixels.
Grass temperature got to 0.6°C here and the temperature did only dip to 1°C with a DP of 0.4°C so not sure how extensive the covering on my lawn was.
Am in Curtis Wood and I think when I checked elevation previously it was 35m ASL so nothing significant. That combined with the extra mile or so inland seems to often make a difference!

Nothing in Maidstone this morning but it's good to see winter having a go so early on Hope those of you who have it enjoy the scenery this morning!
Always the nature of snow even in less marginal events, some get a treat some don't - many o time where Maidstone gets snow and Herne Bay has nothing for example.
Welcome to Winter ❄
Bradley, exactly right - there have been many occasions in the past when those in West Kent fared better than East Kent. Herne Bay area myself and we had a brief covering this morning but perhaps some lower temps drawn off the continent made a difference this time!

Not for all. South East got rain
Up the road in Herne we had a covering on cars and lawns early this morning but was all gone by 8am!

Steady light rain here in Herne bay for the past hour. I can literally see the grass changing colour so that's a positive in my book!

It's almost like the weather's getting political. Kent votes for Brexit and then sees far fewer imported storms from Europe!
I see what you did there but would just like to point out that not all Kent residents voted that way. I'm happy to receive more storms as well as our fair share of migrants

I've never known a winter like this where a series of snow events all over the South East can just completely miss me here in North Essex. Some sort of sick joke! I was pleased for everyone who got loads last night but it's just peeing me off now to hear of MORE coming down everywhere in the South East except here!
This winter can do one.
You're not alone. East kent is wet too

My daughter has ASD so I understand where you're coming from. Still, she enjoys looking at it and finds the shape of the snowflakes fascinating!
My ASD son is a sensory seeker and loves the stuff as much as his old man.

Just started - a few flags fluttering past the lamppost outside in Whitstable.
All surfaces turning white already in Herne!

10.30pm update...
No snow still.
Nothing coming down. Despite being on the back edge.
Nothing happening, I'm not even going to get ANY snow at this rate...yet alone to settle...unreal...
Edit - Birthday suit is not going to be needed now, 100% certain...not even a dusting is going to happen now.
This is some seriously impressive reverse psychology!

Yep, but what's more noticable is that wind!
All the better for the drifting...slightly too optimistic perhaps!

A few flakes now starting to blow around in Herne Bay (2 miles inland)

it does upset me when people say "bingo" or "jackpot" for the south east and we still see the tip of kent (thanet) out of the equation, something I should have got used too but never will
Back in the 80s Thanet had regular snowfalls. For the last 25 or so years the temps are almost always the wrong side of marginal
-
Snowing now in HB albeit pretty wet atm. Perhaps even the Thanet residents may get in on the action!

Signs of some sleet here now in Herne bay.

Anyone in Margate? Whats falling? Radar looks like you’re getting buried
I'm working in Margate today and I can confirm it's the wrong side of marginal here. Mainly drizzle but some sleet mixed in.

Not holding out much hope, need a good old NE wind for us
True enough, aside from that thundersnow event that caught everyone out in 2005 I think it was???

Not a big surprise PT given our luck with anything wintry!
If anything wintry falls out of the sky here in Herne Bay, Thanet may get some action!

Large flakes here in E.Kent atm but frustratingly sparse

First proper sized flakes since lunchtime now appearing in H.bay

many thanks for that, it does make sense seeing as we were called the isle of thanet also I suppose the elevation above sea level doesn't help
Need to get yourself a flat at the top of Arlington House for elevation ?

why do we not see much snow in thanet, the little we had has almost gone now , I suppose it makes me appreciate it more when it does snow
Surrounded by the warmer sea on all sides so temp is always higher than areas to the west. I lived in Thanet for 20 yrs so appreciate how frustrating it is

And time for a slight 50 mile adjustment south to be spot on. Fingers crossed!
