Really poor for July but would have to be a sustained wet & cool spell to rival 2012 or 2007 in terms poorness. Will be interesting to see if things pick up mid month and into August, still plenty of time for pleasant early-mid 20c’s summer weather luckily though even if we don’t tap into anymore 30c+ heat.

After a flaming June pretty cool into the majority of next week, entering July below average and with temperatures more like late September/ early October than going towards mid summer 15-17c is a poor midsummers day for sure as far as temperatures go. Modern July average for the south of the region is probably closer to 20-21c and the north of the region 18-20c.

A slightly fresher feel to things under cloudy skies here in S Cheshire this morning - quite a typical low 20’s NW England overcast with the chance of a shower summers day today so a change from the very warm- hot sunny days of recent weeks. Eyes turn to rainfall/ thunderstorm 🌩 potential tomorrow though

Yeah could be wrong but think we may see a shift to still warm (with the chance of a plume ) but gradually wetter conditions as we head into late month and into July. I just hope we aren’t experiencing a front loaded summer that fizzles out into nothingness or worse a washout by high summer & holiday season mid July-mid August. A front loaded summer being arguably as equally disappointing as a front loaded winter. It’s been another hot one locally up to 28c here in S Cheshire today with indoor temps more uncomfortable than last night. It’s amazing how normal day after day of high 20’s/ low 30c’s are becoming in recent summers particularly across the southern half of NW England. Only 10 years ago a few days of 24c & 25c was considered a decent heatwave for the NW whereas now that’s a few very warm days with 27-30c being seen as being a decent heatwave for Cheshire, Merseyside & Gtr MCR in particular

Been lucky enough to have this week off work - just perfect weather not too hot, just pleasantly warm, fresh nights so fine for sleeping and low humidity. The switch to summer ‘proper’ may well be flicked next weekend though if the ECM model is to be believed with 28c forecast and higher humidity latest GFS keeps us with more of the same for the foreseeable though but definitely not complaining about that!
