Yes that's right. I hit the kerb whilst trying to drive with almost zero visibility due to rain and wind. Lucky I didn't spin the car. Probably should have just stopped really, until the visibility improved.

My video of the storms on Monday evening around Worcestershire. This is the storm chase which resulted in me doing this to my tyre. Whoops. Apologies for the squeaky windscreen wipers.

It is frustrating. Back in June I drove all the way to Kent to catch a storm. Got parked up, filmed it, drove home feeling happy with what I captured and then came to edit it and realised I'd left the camera on autofocus. Made the same mistake just this past week, but luckily realised before my entire film was ruined.

What a week, feel a bit sad to see it go. Easily the most active week of the year and has done something to recover what has been a poor season. I witnessed 5 thundery episodes in 5 days. Monday 5th early am - Northamptonshire Monday 5th evening- Worcestershire Wednesday afternoon- Derbyshire Thursday afternoon- South/East Yorkshire Friday afternoon - At home in Belper A lot more storms today than I expected. I wasn't chasing but luckily one came to me. I have lots of footage to edit, may take a while. Fingers crossed for next week, although today's runs have generally downgraded the risk. Still a while away though so things can change.

Storm passed over Belper and took me a bit by surprise. Missed it being overhead as wanted to move to a location with a view but was torrential rain and flashes as i was in the car. Some nice lightning and loud thunder as it moved away.

Lighting detected 2 miles away but I've not heard any thunder

I'm not chasing today but I am at home so will get some video if a storm comes over Belper.

Very likely. I don't think there were any other storms in the area. Quite an intense cell during its brief life. More now around Lincoln.

Just been under a torrential storm east of Doncaster, near Thorne. Some excellent structure as it approached and then a torrential downpour of rain with lots of flooding and some bright flashes of lightning. Unfortunately was stuck inside the car for the storms passage over, but still a nice catch. I'm in Snaith now and the storms fizzled to just heavy rain.

It's gone just to the west of my house. Even if there was lightning in it I wouldn't see it, there is a big hill in the way. A nice line of showers developing now from Belper to the east coast of Lincolnshire, but no inland sferics yet. I am alongside the M1 at Barlborough so ready to swing north or south if need be.

Indeed. I am heading in the direction of Chesterfield currently. I'm figuring things will intensify as they move north. Not sure what is making me think that, just a hunch. Cells are moving in a northwesterly direction today around here

I'm right in the middle of that MDT from Dan today. Hopefully with storms a bit slower moving I will find it easier to keep up with them.

Back home and lightning being detected to my south. Don't think it will amount to much though.

Nice looking sky to the south from Newhaven in Derbyshire but its not producing any lightning. Something that did produce a bit better was the storm early on Monday near Northampton. My video is here.

Just caught a gusty storm near Wirksworth, Derbyshire. A few flashes of lightning but loads of rumbles as it's headed north towards Bakewell. Looks like more storms gathering to the south now too.

Whilst the new Lake Catatumbo produces the goods just south of Montpellier to Marseille I wonder what the day ahead brings to these shores. My current thinking is that widespread heavy and thundery showers will develop late morning onwards and could occur pretty much anywhere. We have lost the deep layer shear element and so organised/severe storms seem unlikely. UKV indicates some large CAPE values, WRF and GFS a bit more conservative but still plenty enough. I think a day of pulse type storms and showers is on the cards. Any showers could produce a lot of rain in a short space of time and be accompanied by gusty winds, hail and lightning. Some models are showing a slightly more organised area of storms moving into the south coast and then into the southeast and East Anglia this evening. Lightning activity may carry on near to western coasts throughout the night.

If ICON is correct I can expect 2 hours of thunderstorms this evening. However, I don't expect it is. Would be nice though as I am sitting today out and not chasing.

@Minus 10 I'm ok thank you if a bit tired. The car will need a new tyre but it's probably to be expected my car would get hit at some point. When you hunt for storms, one day they'll bite back. At least its not hail dents @sunnijim Thank you, I do enjoy making the reports. I think lightning was more prolific in your location than where I was, main thing last night was the rain and winds. The previous night was better for lightning. Even so, two nights with great storms and lots of footage to edit. Hopefully more to come over the rest of the week.

They were very quick and I am home now

Not the best storm chase, for reasons I will come to. Started my evening near to Bromyard watching pink lightning to the south as dusk fell. It soon became clear the core of this particular cell was going to slightly miss me so I headed a little west to the village of Bredenbury expecting to watch the storm roll in. However it moved in quickly and with such ferocity that I did not get much time to think. I ended up sheltering under some car garage as torrential rain, occasional lighting and winds I'd estimate at over 60mph raged through. I wasn't really getting much shelter as the rain was horizontal and coming in like a tidal wave. Anyhow, I then chased the line of storms northwards towards Stourport. The lightning seemed to become a bit more prolific as i chased with some nice IC bolts. I eventually caught the storm up and it was a scary experience with visibility near zero in what I can only describe as an American style downburst. This is where my chase took a downward turn. In hindsight I should have stopped, but in my want to get ahead of the storm I carried on. Due to my inability to see the road I ended up hitting the kerb hard and bust my tyre. I didn't actually see or feel any damage at first so continued chasing. There was a lot of flooding and some very deep flooding on the M5 slip road near Quinton. I actually thought my car was going to get stranded in it but I got through. Eventually I came to stop at Rugby services to watch the line of storms move through. They were much weaker now though and produced only the odd flash and rumble alongside normal UK level heavy rain. When I began driving out of the services I realised I couldn't steer the car. Lo and behold totally flat tyre. I am now sitting waiting for the AA as I'm not hands on enough to change it myself. What an experience!

Skies darkening over the hills to the south of Bromyard

I have headed further southwest to be not far from Bromyard. Hereford is a quick jaunt down the A465 from here. Well, 40 minutes so not that quick.
