  1. Hi Weather freak, welcome to the forum. If you click on the 3 dots to the right of your name and then click edit you can edit your post.
  2. Could I end up going out after a storm again later? My plan was to rest today, but if they approach here then I'm ready to go
  3. Great evening of storms for me to chase. Started off on the hills above Macclesfield where I had a great view of a photogenic storm to the west. Headed back east through Buxton and intercepted that beast storm at Chatsworth. Managed to stand out and film the storm approach whilst being bleated at by some Chatsworth locals (sheep). Some big flashes and CGs with loud thunder as the storm approached. One CG was very close with shotgun thunder. Soon after the rain moved in, it was torrential and accompanied by winds and so standing out in it was no longer possible. I ran back to the car and chased the storm through Sheffield and to the M1. Lots of lightning, torrential rain and gusty winds. Plenty of flooding too. At some points the rain was greatly reducing visibility. The best storm of the season so far. And all this was after getting a small storm near Worksop in the morning. Only downside is I could have seen the storm by staying at home, but I do prefer getting out and about.
  4. Latest run from Arome also showing a similar MCS for the East Midlands northwards into Yorkshire this evening. Infact, although it also shows new developments to the west of the Peak District in the next couple of hours, it has shifted the main focus eastwards
  5. Currently between Buxton and Macclesfield. Getting concerned that the modelled storms are those across NW England. If that is the case then i've missed them.
  6. The worst/best is meant to be across northwest England and to the west of the Peak District.
  7. Yes, at a guess. It seems to be where most models and forecasts are going for.
  8. Caught a smallish storm just to the west of Worksop about an hour ago. Moved through very quickly but produced a few flashes and a couple of CGs. I am now just outside Retford but trying not to get drawn further east as my main target is further west. I do have a bit of time to play with though.
  9. Good convective skies to start the day. Already been some cells over the Peak District, but they were moving way too fast for me to attempt chasing them. Good news is that the sun is out and so temperatures will very soon start rising quickly and in a humid, unstable airmass. I'm still not 100% sure where to go, but still thinking somewhere around the Western Peak District for late afternoon. Before that I will stay home and will something to crop up here.
  10. Sad to see that Dan will not be producing forecasts anymore. Thank you for your expert insights over the years @staplehurst Tomorrow looks very interesting. Still could change but my initial plan is to stay close to home, or thereabouts, for the morning and hope the elevated stuff comes to me. If need be I could head slightly east but don't want to go too far as my biggest interest is west by late afternoon. I am thinking somewhere near to the M6 in the vicinity of Manchester or maybe the NW Peak District (hills above Macclesfield). I will need to ensure I have a decent route north though. Of course all could change by the morning and it will be back to the drawing board.
  11. Seems to be a consensus amongst the models that the strongest storms may be tomorrow late afternoon/early evening in areas just to the west of the Pennines. Maybe somewhere like Manchester. However, it's a guessing game. The ECM is another model that is showing widespread storms for tomorrow. I will be chasing tomorrow but currently not sure of where to go. There looks to be multiple areas of thunderstorms tomorrow. I'd probably see something by just sitting at home, this more likely in the morning.
  12. A small storm between Alsager and Crewe moving slowly this way. I'm not expecting it to reach here but nice to have something to watch.
  13. Locking this thread now. Please continue your discussions here: https://community.netweather.tv/topic/99001-storms-and-convective-discussion-1st-july-2023-onwards/
  14. A new month, a new storms thread. What a month June was for some of us. Now officially the hottest June on record and for some central and western parts it has been a pretty thundery month too. The huge disparity in rainfall during June shows that the distribution of storms were not even, and when are they ever?! Hopefully, for those who love the storms, there will be more to come in July and for those who are yet to see one, your drought will be broken in July. Either way, please continue to discuss in here. Old thread is here: https://community.netweather.tv/topic/98875-storms-and-convective-discussion-june-2023/page/193/#comment-4880298 The No Storms club thread hasn't been used since June 18th, but it is here for you to talk about your lack of storms. During busy times it can get quite difficult to keep up with actual storm reports amongst the posts of no storm reports. Could I kindly ask that we use the no storms thread more please: https://community.netweather.tv/topic/98637-no-storms-club-2023/ Good luck to all
  15. Thank you. As @alexisj9 says it did seem like we had somewhat of a chaser convergence! I wonder if we passed each other walking around on Sutton Bank? I know there were a number of posts I saw after the chase which confirmed there were a number of us on the same storm, especially the one near Pickering.
  16. Finished editing and uploading the footage from Sunday from the North York Moors and eventually ending up near Bridlington. Although storms weren't as spectacular as I had hoped it was a nice day out and there were some decent storms. Probably the most picturesque storm chase I have ever done, with scenery and views. I also don't think I ever remember as many members from Netweather chasing on the same storms either. It is good to see storm chasing in the UK getting more interest
  17. Thanks guys. I was asked the question on YouTube what it is. I assumed scud but that was a guess.
  18. Quick question. Does anyone know what cloud this is that I saw on the 22nd June near Leicester? There was no rotation in it and it was not on a day conducive to rotating storms? It did hang down for a few minutes though
  19. Footage of the heavy showers and thunderstorms I saw and chased back on Thursday (June 22nd). Only just managed to get it edited and uploaded as was obviously out chasing all day yesterday. The footage from yesterday will be ready later in the week I expect.
  20. @Joey.GII We were probably driving back at the same time, on the same roads . Nice account and I second your thoughts. A successful day's chasing but not as good as I'd hoped. Today had the makings of a memorable day, but it was not to be. But there were plenty of storms and where they were expected to be so I'm happy enough.
  21. I was positioned just a couple of miles southeast of Scarborough. Probably a bit late for the answer now though
  22. I was. Only one visible flash unfortunately but squally winds, torrential rain and hail. Moved through very quick though. Moving off into the North Sea now
  23. Really kicking off to my south. Not in view yet but it's all coming my way
  24. I moved away from Sutton Bank despite the great view and headed to Pickering where I picked up a cell that produced a couple of IC's on its front before transitioning to the all familiar feint flashes and then nothing. Produced some torrential rain which I stood out in (because I'm crazy) and some blustery winds. Some lovely structure on it though with a nice gust front. Have now ended up driving to Scarborough but not seeing much now and so thinking I've gone too far east. Although the cell from near Pocklington is heading this way, despite the other cells moving more NNE.
  25. Just had a picnic at Sutton Bank, thanks for the recommendations . This is the current view. Things building and its feeling very hot but with a nice breeze to cool it a bit (thanks to the fact I'm on a hill). Hopefully be seeing some storms soon. If necessary I can get east towards Helmsley and then Scarborough.
