4.13am and I just had to let the dogs out...and wow! It's beautiful out there
The frost is so hard it looks like snow, moon is bright, skies twinkling and a band of white clouds reflecting the moonlight and looking like distant mountains.
It's been such a long time since we've had weather like this, and I had forgotten what strange, silent beauty it can bring.

Sorry mods if this the wrong thread, but with all the talk of snow potential/will it/won't it, I thought this past event might highlight how magical things can pop up at short notice.
Feb 1st, 2019 and an unforecast snow event occurred in Hampshire/Surrey. It snowed constantly for some 9 hours and produced 17cm for my location in Fleet. I was really curious about what had happened and discovered it was a mesoscale event. I have included a screenshot of part of the paper I found, which can be accessed from the site shown in my Google screenshot ( sorry but my technical nous is limited so I dont know how to attach the PDF document here.)

Seems like a long long time since any storms made it here, yesterday looked promising, but again failed to deliver.
What's the outlook for the rest of the week?

I think someone got out of the wrong side of bed today!
Some folk here are weather fans but not necessarily experts at reading charts, nor perhaps even navigating the forums too well. And just maybe some folk want to try and engage with fellow enthusiasts. There's no need to be short or snappy with them.

Really stupidly dangerous
We were absolutely safe: radar watching and ensuring storm was far enough away to watch safely - as it moved inland we ( as I said) got out of the hot tub. OK, yes we had a dance in the rain when we came out from under our extending roof but tbh, it's a risk many storm enthusiasts take every time they go on a chase: a calculated risk.
And maybe you could have pm'd me to raise your concerns rather than making assumptions.
PS If it was my parenting skills you were concerned about, my daughter is a 19 year old storm chaser.

Absolute classic Storm sunset in the city of love here in the near continent, just urging anyone on the edge of the MCS to see if they can get a Storm sunset because I think it'll be better than my attempts as I've only got 1 Storm to go on.
A slightly blue tinted one to bring out the red
As the sky got darker I headed to a place with streetlights and water and got this.
Absolutely stunning. Great captures.

Just WOW! On a short break in the New Forest, with spectacular views to the South and West, and just had the most amazing thunderstorm experience ever. Knew it was coming so me and my daughter sat in the hot tub, perched on a hillside, and watched it roll in. Once the rain got super biblical we exited hit tub and proceeded to dance around in the storm. Just such a wonderful, memorable experience. The storm passed directly overhead, and was truly awesome. Sadly my phone captures don't quite do it justice but I hope you fellow storm lovers enjoy our insanely unusual storm non-chase

Biblical rain here in the New Forest last night, along with some thunder: unfortunately I was too tired to get up and watch at 4am but am sure any lightning would have looked great from our balcony view!
So am now sitting in sunshine, watching the sky to my S/W and hoping today I will see some stunning cloudscapes.

More active on the horizon looking S from Odiham. And after the lovely stillness the wind has picked up, trees are swaying and I guess not long until the deluge.

Parked up at Odiham to see if the line moves up and across. Lots of nice flickering in skies to S/E

Full on thunderstorm in Bordon at the moment, streets starting to flood quite badly from the looks of things as well where the water is just running off. We maybe getting into flash flooding territory here now.
I think that must have been the distant thunder I could hear. Friend sat viewing from his roof in Farnham said it was all grey, noisy and rain but no lightning.

Bexhill just had Beautiful skies, interesting motion within the clouds, lots of distant thunder, one visible CG and some CC in the distance over the channel, huge connective drops, soaked within seconds!
A close call but again the Bexhill storm bubble held and we missed a direct hit.

NE Hants and it's been fog and frost all day, with a few icy flakes falling now and again. Not expecting snow as we are just outside the warning area, but with all this frost and cold it still looks beautiful. A couple of snaps from my walk, taken about 1.15pm. My Bernese Mountain Dog is so loving this weather, as am I.
