South East and East Anglia Weather Discussion Sept 2020 onwards

Hi all - I haven't posted in this thread in quite some time! I just wanted to pop in and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I was hoping for a few flakes to fall this morning. Closest I ever got was hail! I see that there has been some lightning detected in the North Sea, off the coast of Suffolk. I've set up my DSLR on the window-sill so hopefully I can take some snaps of some distant lightning. -

I have some flakes too: I would have thought the GFS control would produce more than a few flakes if it verified. -

@DiagonalRedLine One word... WOW. What a post!! I would have thought it took you a ton of time writing that and it was certainly worth it! Thank you so much to you and everyone else that takes the time out of their day to post to this site. As it's almost 3am, and I'm one of the few people browsing Netweather at this time... I decided to look at the models for something to post - so the first model I looked at was the JMA. After viewing the whole run, I didn't decide to look at the other models any further! A ton of people would be happy if this came off. It's certainly what we need in these difficult times! Have a great Christmas and New Year lads. All the best. -

18z GFS brings the -10c isotherm into Scotland and the -8c isotherm into parts of central and southern England. Certainly an upgrade from its previous run. -
I think I should post here more.. Anyway, here's a timelapse of a small and isolated storm that developed to my SW last year in Haines City. You can see the rising updrafts to the left of the anvil, some with pileus caps too.

Evening all, I just saw a snapshot of the UKV on Twitter - chance of sleet/snow for inland parts of EA on Christmas Eve if this was to come off: Also, there's some pretty interesting feature on the day 10 ECM chart for eastern Europe - a sudden cold pool develops out of nowhere. Does this feature have a specific name? -

Anyone seen what the incredibly accurate CMA has just churned out? Edit: Also... SK's post has just become the most liked on Netweather.. deserved. -

I'm a bit late but @snowking, that was one insane post man. Thanks so much for taking the time out of your day to write something so informative. Just found out that your post is currently the second most liked post on this platform. -
We made it! My mood will gradually start to lift from now on..

I wonder how many times that has been said in the past few years... The last week of December and into January is almost certainly going to be colder than average, so while it may not be prolonged, it is in most peoples eyes better than constant zonality. I'm not too focused on any specific details at this stage - these include 850s, places that will get snow etc. It's simply just too far out and will obviously chop and change. I will sometimes post them though if it's stonking, just because I always focus on the positives, not the negatives. Great model watching to be had though, especially with what's going on in the world. It definitely has been an entertaining past few days reading all posts from the knowledgeable members. @Scott Ingham especially - good job mate. If only I was knowledgeable. Night all. Whatever the models show, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. -

I love Sheikhy's optimistic posts, but I've got a feeling he is going to do something weird with all the '' emojis at the end of his posts whenever a model is showing something good -

Perturbation 7 of the 12z GFS is absolutely bonkers.. - 850 temps around -13/-14c for the whole country (it shows -15c for my location) - Loads of snow - Quite tight isobars to the NE of the country, means that blizzards are a possibility if it comes off (like it ever comes off anyway) - The low gets trapped to our east for at least 5 days -

Just seen a very bright flash - so bright that it reflected off some of the lower-level clouds. Awaiting the power of it on Meteologix.. -

It's an absolute CB fest to my south. I can see around 7 or 8 of them. Just hoping one of them electrifies.
