Have to say, it's the first time I've heard "MCS heading for SE UK" in a good year or two! -

The many nights I've spent staying up watching storms die across the channel. Always very rewarding when you do get one. -

Yeah, UKV brings a stormy mess for SE in the early hours before another batch hits in the morning around 10Z ish. -

No NLCs here unfortunately. I have setup the timelapse cam to see if anything appears at dawn.
-
Seen that on the NLCs around the world FB group, quite the show! I'll have to have a look outside in 20 minutes or so when trickles of some may appear.

It really has been dreadful for imports over the last 2 years. Last year was the worst I can remember for it. Like Paul said the other day, the SE really is not as thundery as it used to be, even from imports. -

The prospects of some imports overnight from Weds to Thurs do have my eye. Of course, I'm awaiting the inevitable shift east all the way into Belgium by Tuesday on models. -

WRF tends to have a dewpoint bias and thus moisture is overdone and CAPE is massively overdone. It's mentioned in Dan Holley's paper "A climatology of convective available potential energy in Great Britain" from April 2014. Another storm here earlier, was sadly out of the area but looks like around 7 mm of rain within the 15 minutes or so it was here and gone. Sea convergence + surface heating all being united together again. Two storms in 2 days is not bad going! -
