  1. The forecasts I've checked show snow for some Wednesday into Thursday, then cold and dry up to Sunday. Any forecast 3 days+, I tend to ignore. For actual snow forecasts, I don't put much stock in anything a day or two in advance.
  2. From M.W.I.S PLANNING OUTLOOK All mountain areas of Britain from Wednesday 16th January 2019 A cold front moves south on Wednesday, and freezing levels will drop markedly. Showers of snow or hail to increasingly low levels Weds-Thurs. Pressure then builds to leave fair and frosty conditions later in the week, although complications arise as low pressure and fronts try to edge in from the west. Some snow is possible, perhaps focused on Wales and N England. The general outlook into later January is cold, with snow accumulating on the mountains, but precise detail uncertain.
  3. Stunning winter morning, clear blue skies, no wind and the slightest snow covering. Mixed results for the ski centres overnight, although Cairngorm and the Lecht webcams are encouranging this morning. A colder week from Thursday onwards but dry, at least up until Sunday.
  4. Cool start to the day. Currently 0c Dry with no wind. A very light dusting of snow through the night.
  5. Temperatures are already heading south up here, heavy snow forecast for Glenshee ski centre today. Fingers crossed the webcam shows something positive tomorrow: https://www.ski-glenshee.co.uk/Webcam
  6. If memory serves, severe frost is within -6c -to -11c range.
  7. Poor winter so far. If memory serves, -8c this month. Coldest for the UK this winter has been Braemar at -10.5c? Scottish ski centres have had a miserable time, although that should improve today onwards.
  8. Improved snow outlook for Scottish ski centres starting today. Heavy snow forecast for Glenshee this afternoon.
  9. Frequent blustery showers. Temperatures starting to fall away, currently 5c Suspect snow for the surrounding hills overnight.
  10. I own a BMW X5, with the factory fitted 20" wheels its a nightmare in winter conditions. My advice would be buy a set of winter alloys and tyres. I do a lot of snowboarding, which can mean driving driving in atrocious conditions, with winter wheels and tyres, the X5 is very competent. Obviously if you hit black ice, there's not much you can do.
  11. Notable change this morning, blustery showers, windy and a temp of 5c.
  12. Similar to the forecast from the Met. Snow now expected for parts of Northern Scotland on Monday.
  13. Sat here kicking myself. I sold my snowblower back in September.
  14. The Met are forecasting snow for my location early Monday morning. Even at 3 days out, that forecast will more than likely change.
  15. A further 5 feet of snow being forecast for Northern Austria over the weekend. Astonishing!
  16. Parts of Scotland, Aviemore and, Braemar have snow forecast for next Wednesday - Met Office.
