  1. Been so locked into the Ciaran thread I nearly forgot to check in here! Did someone order a November Spanish plume with a side dish of gales?
  2. Right now, Dorset has more electrical activity than: - The entire USA - All of Europe (there's some dying stuff in Croatia but I'm gonna claim the win for us).
  3. The UKV had those 'cells' around these parts later tonight. There's certainly a chance. Not ideal conditions for storm watching with the strong wind, but I'd take it
  4. It's great, isn't it? This screenshot would not be out of place during a summertime plume event for the SW
  5. To be fair, it'd take a catastrophic failure of all models to become another '87 from here. The path and intensity has been pretty well nailed down since Monday night.
  6. It's getting ridiculously loud here. The trees being in leaf obviously exacerbates that though
  7. Wow, was not expecting so much lightning activity. Heading up towards Dorset by the look of it
  8. Better get the camera ready to head out later. Joking of course. Even I wouldn't try to shoot lightning in 70mph gusts.
  9. It almost makes it look like the centre of the low is down there currently, rather than many miles to the west!
  10. Showery 'bits' left over from last night's 'warm up act' low
  11. Blowing a hoolie just along the coast here, especially in the downpours.
  12. I'm a homeowner in a pretty exposed location, so yes, it perhaps goes against logic to want such weather, but being a weather forum, I feel safe to say such things.
  13. Can't help but be disappointed that we're going to miss what may have been the strongest winds in living memory for me (I was too young for '87 and the one a few years later). Eunice remains king, at least for this decade!
  14. ECM in-line with the others. The low centre pretty much goes over the top of my head. Shame, this looked like a memorable event a couple of days ago, from a strong wind POV.
  15. Eunice. Same here; lost power for roughly 5-6 hours. Got me out of work for the afternoon! I can't see the same happening this time; every time I check the models it's moved further south.
  16. Only a worry for France on the latest UKV, hell of a southward shift
  17. Well, that didn't age well. Just 6 hours later and it's back south-shifted instead.
  18. The storm will soon actually exist, which should help models hone in on the finer details. Going by what I can see, Ciaran is currently in the process of being born within this lot in the far NE USA:
  19. Crikey. Quite the period of weather at the mo, gotta say I'm enjoying it purely from an 'interesting' weather perspective.
  20. They'll probably hold off until tomorrow, I'd imagine. The track of the low isn't nailed-on enough yet, and I'm seeing hints in the models that it could actually end up diving a little further south and largely being a problem for France...but we'll see
  21. What f/stop was that? Must have caught you out with its brightness/closeness?
  22. Storm Ciaran looks all but certain, then. Could be the strongest wind event for the south since Eunice in Feb of last year.
