  1. Hurricane Patricia (2015) went from Tropical storm to Cat 5 in about 24 hours, so it would need to beat that to get the top spot for fastest Hurricane intensification, but it's probably a close 2nd. Taken from Wikipedia : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meteorological_history_of_Hurricane_Patricia#Records
  2. Been quite standard on and off again showers up here, had a nice heavy downpour about 30 mins ago. Main thing that's been amazing today is the cloudscapes The sheer speed that they've been moving at made for some amazing views with all the skuddy mini towers tilting at 45 degrees and curling over on top like waves racing past.
  3. For anyone interested this is the gov's webpage with all the monitoring stations for rivers/streams/coastal water levels. It's an interactive map so you can just zoom in/out and choose whichever station you want to view. Orange icon's are station reporting above average/possible flooding occurring heights. https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/river-and-sea-levels
  4. I like it because it keeps all the yobs and their yobby kids off of the streets. Nice, peaceful and above all, quiet! ___________ And, yeah, it's more of a persistent drizzle up here, not even a bit of a breeze either. Not really much of a 'storm' this far North, more like just a normal Autumn drizzle/rain front.
  5. Can we Join the SW group, I can pronounce all of those names compared to atleast 7 on the 'UK' grouping that are unpronounceable without spraining your tongue/vocal chords. _____________ In regards to the Storm, nothing much has been happening up here. Dry and dull all day. Sun was weakly visible through the cloud as if it was shining through a high snowcloud/fog but zero warmth to it. Not much in the way of wind either, a mild breeze earlier in the day but really calm outside now.
  6. Wow!, where did this come from, absolutely pouring down outside and winds going mental, even started off with hail in it for a min or so, could see them pinging off of the car roof.
  7. Looking a tad stormy at Galveston, Texas (North of where Beta's coming ashore). Meanwhile, further South closer to the centre some minor flooding is occurring from the surge ( 28°46'21.80"N, 95°36'55.07"W).
  8. Some noticeable sand movement going on. This is Miramar Beach 12 hours ago and now, a good foot of sand lost. (Look at the boulder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fNuuAiXf9E And here (Inlet Reef, Destin) there's a good foot of sand that has been dumped, using the signs pole as a guide. (probably where it ended up). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nB2z1ArZIC4 EDIT: Rapid depositing going on at Miramar Beach now (sand mixed with sediment mud going by the greyish colour of it), Last 30 mins the boulder has been completely covered over o_O
  9. Found the Co-ord's for these 2 hotels. Just copy paste them into Google Earth search box and press go Beach Club Resort and Spa - 30°13'48.59"N, 87°52'33.28"W Turquoise Place - 30°16'16.25"N, 87°34'28.03"W If Sally continues on it's present course, the first one should end up in the eye, whist the 2nd one should be in/on the edge of the NE/E/SE Eyewall as it passes over... Well... If they survive and the power doesn't go down
  10. Another Decent cam East of Pensacola. You can see an occasional large wave climbing up the dune in the foreground.
  11. Question for anyone in the know. The NHC have officially classed Rene as being dispersed, but a couple of the models (on Tropicatidbits) now show it possibly re-intensifying back to a Tropical Storm, would it keep the same name (as it's the same Low), or be given a new one?
  12. Was like there here in Stoke about an hour ago, it's all merged into a veil of hazy muckiness now though
  13. Couple of Cams on the Coast south of Mobile (to the West of Pensacola) Looking very rough! WARNING: They stupidly decided to put fake wave noises on the streams, so might as well just mute them
  14. Unfortunately, there's bound to still be people whining that it's rubbish, because they aren't all hitting land... ?
  15. FI is also showing Paulette's remains making a beeline for the Bay of Bisque for Sun 20th/Mon 21st. Might be worth just keeping a squinty side-eye on for that. (Also could be some good wave's on Coastal Webcams ? Surfs up dude )
  16. Net Weather Forecast is showing 30C on Monday for me next week 0% Storm risk though at the mo
  17. Around 9:45 AM (BST) the UK had a 3.9 Quake https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us7000bjlf/executive Anyone down there feel anything
  18. Cant imagine what that sort of Temp change feels like, it's bad enough when it goes from 30C for a few days running, down to 20C over a couple days (out come the sweaters )
  19. Water Vapor Sat image of 17L Tropical Storm Paulette (Left) and 18L Tropical Storm Rene (Right) along with a 'Jupiter Red Spot look alike' swirl above. Looks like both of them may end up as Fish Storms, but who knows, maybe the Fujiwara Effect will kick in as they get closer and send them on a different course. You can also see the 3rd area at 30N 58W that they are keeping an eye on, if one forms there we'll get an Orion's Belt of Storms
