Could be very Windy up here starting tomorrow. All the talk is of course Storm Eunice. As the south is more densely populated. I remember the storm of '87. It was horrible. Living in Epping forest, the sounds of all the Trees falling was pretty scary tbh. Then in '90 we had a daytime storm that actually lifted the front of my Car up whilst waiting at a roundabout. I now hate high winds. The damage they can do is awful. Stay safe everyone.

Model discussion - hunt for cold - Christmas countdown
cj114 replied to Paul's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
I had to do a short course on our Weather in the 70s, whilst plotting Flying routes for small Aircraft. I was told by a kindly chap at the Met Office that our Weather was very hard to predict due to our position. Thank you for pointing this out, I had almost forgotten. -
Winter 2021-22 Chat, Moans and ramps thread

I was 16 in '76. Had just started my first job behind Canada house in Trafalgar square. We had Flexi time, so you could do 8-4 or 10-6. I would get up at 6 to be in for 8. Sometimes take 2hrs for lunch to sit in St James park to top up the tan. When it got too hot we would go to the pub before getting on the tube around 10. The heat was unreal. But we did get used to it! Looking back, it was a wonderful Summer. -
Thought I would pop into my new "local" thread to say Hi. Have been a member for many years, but until Feb lived in Greater London north east. Although members of the family have been up here for years, I haven't seen much Snow on visits for over 10yrs. The last time we had to dig out the Cars was not much fun to be honest. Let's hope we all have a good Christmas and a bit of the White stuff would be lovely for the kids. Cheers. Carolyn x

I like watching Snow! I moved up here as my kids are here. Was in the next village to me last night when it began to Snow. Luckily I had put new tyres on the Car last week. No more Slicks for me. It's so pretty up here and people are so friendly. In my old area, if you tried to start a conversation at a bus stop they would look at you as if you were mad. All in all, so glad I made the move. Sure you will too. X

Irony, it's ironic sometimes isn't it? Lol

If my English Teacher had seen that, it would have been roundly ridiculed. I suspect the "Text" Generation, they have no idea how to write coherently.

South East and East Anglia Weather Discussion February 2021 onwards

Well, this will be the last "Snowfest" I will be watching from my current location. Moving to North Yorkshire in a couple of weeks. I remember so many great Snow Storms over the years. My favourite being the one where it hammered down with rain all evening, then woke up to 6 inches of Snow. The only person to correctly forecast it was Francis Wilson on Thames TV Local News. That was early '80s. The Thundersnow event in 2004 was when I joined here I think. I will pop in here, after all I have lived here all my life and have very much enjoyed our local forecasters on Netweather. Love to all xx -

It sometimes dissipates before it hits the ground, esp when very light. -

Epping new road is never gritted! The council would rather pay out for accidents than grit. -

Severe Atlantic Storms Over The Christmas Period #2
cj114 replied to Liam J's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
I'll be at work then when finished will try to get home, all those Tree's along the route are making me reconsider my way home. Assuming something hasn't hit the Car whilst I am working. Then I get to drive to Leeds in the Morning, returning on Friday when the next storm is due. Merry Christmas everyone.- 986 replies
