  1. Apparently server too busy to upload comments, anyone else? -2c here [ I am surprisingly high in my area] and -1c in my conservatory, which I don't plan to sit in anytime soon.
  2. This happened a lot in the 80's and we mostly got Snow out of it. But depending on the high pressure would be how much you get or whether the front stalls further west or not. To be honest, with this high pressure we have not been in it for very long, entrenched, that is. So what worries me a little still is that the front will either whiz over us and we get just a bit of Snow. On the plus side, if the front stalls further west it means that the cold stays for a lot longer. Ho, hum. Nah, I'm older than you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol Way........................older
  3. Thanks. I guess we are still having Snow then. And NOT Fish. Which is marvellous really. Have stocked up on the Vodka, the Kids are going to be very upset if they get here for their Sunday lunch. lol Youngest is 19 and already hates Snow, only having seen it for the past 3yrs! lol. Apparently, slipping over is not cool.
  4. Evening all, Can anyone tell me the latest please? I did pop into model output but they are all talking about fish! Thanks in advance of anyone who isn't talking about Fish here. lol
  5. Night all. I'll say what I have said for a few days now. Nowcasting. My one fear is that the front from the west will get fizzled out by the high pressure in the east before it gets to us. But, who knows?
  6. Radar is looking interesting for my Daughter who lives in west Leeds. She will be hoping School is closed tomorrow. lol She usually has to go as she is the Headteacher. Not really, just head of dept.
  7. I see Roger is lurking, would you like to comment on this upcoming chilly/snowy spell for the south east? Thanks in advance.
  8. Just turned on the radio and people have been phoning in to complain that it's -2c!!! ROFL
  9. Thats just mad. We would be digging ourselves out of our front doors. lol
  10. Meto warnings are up now. Apparently there is no chance of milder air reaching us after the snow stops!
  11. Right, I am off shopping later to lay in stocks of Vodka. It's good for clearing windscreens as well as drinking to keep warm. I suspect that come Sat night Yamkin will be so busy model watching he will make the headlines by being the only gritter who got stuck in the Snow!
  12. Apparently not! lol Like I said he did say they were not quite sure yet and to keep watching and look on the website [which has now broken]
  13. Peter Cockcroft does think that Kent is going to have a lot of Snow over the next few days. Mind you, re Sat he did say to keep watching as they are still not very sure what will happen. Nowcasting is the way forward. Got my Wellies ready just in case but as usual we will grind to a halt in 1cm of Snow!
  14. On a more serious note. Please keep an eye on elderly folk, things are not as they used to be as we are all so busy these days. Back in the 80s we all shopped and kept an eye on our local old guys and girls. Go on, it will make you feel good.
  15. I can't believe it either! Mind you we are placed in such a way that it's one of the most hard places to forecast for! British Isles that is. I do remember a Blizzard warning on the tv in '81, however I didn't see it as I had locked myself out in said Blizzard! lol
  16. Yes, it was...................................his star started to rise after that.
  17. It's all a bit pants to be honest. I don't think that ANYONE knows whats going to happen. Going to dig out my wellies in case anyhow. This country is amazing, Weather just turns on a dime.
  18. Aw Bless, There is a chance of snow showers tomorrow and Friday apparently. I hope you see some. It's all up in the air, literally. lol
  19. If you look at the temps for sat night into Sunday on the met office website it will be 7c by sunday morning! I rather think that their update will suggest that the atlantic will win out. Cold not establised enough??
  20. That utube broadcast was feb 1990. I know that because I was stuck indoors for a week and when I did get out had to put young child on a sledge to get to the shops as our close was buried in snow. lol They still talk about my bread making capabilities, it was rubbish. lol
  21. p.s He was considered a Maverick at the time, but Sky soon snatched him away after the 90's forecast.
  22. Francis Wilson was forecaster with Thames local weather at the time. I think it was 1982, because I went out in rain then woke up to a good few inches of Snow. He was the only one to suggest this would happen. What a legend.
