  1. A few flakes of snow falling here now in North Oxfordshire, so might reach Wellesbourne eventually?
  2. Yep, now -6.2°C here, where it was -7.0°C earlier. That would indicate increased cloud and snow approaching I hope.
  3. On my Rain alarm radar the showers do appear to be getting more intense as that band moves Noth West towards us.
  4. Definite moving North, as earlier it was stuck at Reading in the south
  5. This is Friday's warning area. So we may be in with a chance of snow.
  6. The BBC Weather broadcasts keep showing Friday as a mainly South West and Wales snow event, with very little snow elsewhere.
  7. Just looked at Hirlam, and shows from 2pm onwards tomorrow very heavy snow for Midlands area. And it shows the clear area that we have now on the radar, so does seem accurate??
  8. That's what I use, and recommended it to everyone I know. It looks dry tonight in the gap between Nottingham and Reading, so not much for the West Midlands.
  9. Yes, the model thread is mostly useless for finding out what the weather might be.
  10. These showers only go as far as Northampton then vanish so far.
  11. I have driven from Redditch to Coventry and back down to North Oxfordshire today and there is no worthwhile accumulation of snow. Redditch probably had the most but not enough to cover the ground. Coventry had lots of heavy showers around midday, but then the sun came out.
  12. There is virtually no wind here at all, which does not help. What happened to the beast from the east. It's more like the fairy from the dairy.
  13. The snow is breaking up on the radar over Northants so far. I am hoping the shower over Kettering might reach here, but so far Northampton is acting as a snow shield.
  14. Light snow shower here and it is sunny. Nothing showing on the radar though.
  15. I was watching the warnings changing all day long on the Meto site. They kept appearing and disappearing randomly. It's best to ignore the models and forecasts now as they are all clueless, and just watch the radar, or look out the window.
  16. We have a dusting of snow on the ground here from the last couple of hours of light snow. Can't complain. It's nothing like 'the whole country will be buried in snow' predicted by the so called experts in the M.O thread.
  17. Light snow just started falling here near Banbury. The radar is looking good for some heavier falls later tonight.
  18. I don't think this upcoming cold spell will be as cold as 2010, as I remember driving to work in the Midlands and it was -11°C air temp. This evenings charts are only showing -7°C as coldest so far in my area. I also doubt the amount of snow we get will be as much as 2010. But we are still 7-days away from anything really cold, and there will be upgrades and downgrades to the weather models until in the more reliable timeframe.
  19. Call me sceptical, but the last few winters we have had this hopecasting strat warming nonsense in the model thread when Winter is nearly over, and no severe cold weather ever happens.
