  1. Am I the only one to notice there's been a theme with all summer months, in that warmth seems to return during the 2nd week. Look at June (9-10th), July (7-8th), August (10-11th). Quite an interesting quirk with this summer.
  2. Looks like today could be a similar story.. Never seen the likes of these max temps in August.
  3. In London yes, 25C is 4-5C warmer than average here. 3 days of consecutive 25Cs is a heatwave.
  4. Possibly the coldest on record here, GFS has us at 9-10C during the afternoon.. and that's on 5th August, not 5th December. Comparing this to mid June it's almost comical, our weather is so erratic it's fascinating, and this takes the biscuit.. granted if it comes to fruition.
  5. Have to agree, I don't like heat, but I appreciate some warmth. 19-23C and sunny is the sweet spot yet since July 9th the top temperature has only been 21. Seasonal norms are what I prefer, I think it's best for most people. This summer has been very strange, the July was dismal with almost no sun. Hope Autumn brings us sunny spells and moderate temperatures.
  6. This has been a very strange summer, will definitely be a talking point in the near future. We went from one of the sunniest Junes on record to the dullest July on record. I've noticed these stark contrasts have been a theme this year, have a look at Feb/March.
  7. This is borderline winter territory right here. Get wrapped up, possibly the coldest day in August for a long time if this materialises.
  8. GFS got us down for a max of 10C on Saturday.. TEN in peak summer This is getting hilarious now.
  9. Rostherne, NW ended at 105.9 hrs of sunshine for July.. Feb 2019: July 2023: To put it into context, it was 0.6hrs more than Feb 2019. April this year had more, 144hrs. June had 246hrs. Dullest July since 2020 which had a crazy figure of 95.3..
  10. I concur, the only month I'd say was bad in 2018 was December. What a horrible month that was.
  11. The latest met update also doesn't signal a return to warmth, though I wouldn't take too much credence in them anyways.. August can't be worse than July.
  12. Exactly the same forecast up north, minus a few degrees. This has to be the longest period of subdued summer temperatures since 2007. Can't recall anything like it..
  13. If that warm spell didn't occur at the end of July 2020, then the CET could've been in the low 15s.. akin to the 2007-12 summers. I'm just surprised that we got away with a CET in the 16s with hardly any high maxes, highest here was only 25C.. crazy figure considering it's the lowest since 2007. Guess this month is the August 2008 of July's.
  14. If you're worrying at the prospects of heat this August, take a look at the latest met update.. not seen an update like this in summer for quite a while. UK weather WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK Tromso-Langnes The latest UK weather forecast. Includes UK weather for today, tomorrow and long range forecasts up to 28 days.
  15. Interestingly If July came in as 16.1C, which looks to be the figure it will be exactly the same as June-July 2022 CET June 2022 CET: 14.9C July 2022 CET: 18.2C Average June-July 2022 CET 16.55C June 2023 CET: 17.0C July 2023 CET: 16.1C Average June-July 2023 CET 16.55C August will be the decider..
  16. Took its time lol.. never knew a July with such a static CET. It's been in the low 16s since the 10th.
  17. Data from Rostherne, NW. June and July.. you'd think the latter would be June but no. What a strange summer it's been.
  18. Looks horrible, so here's what I'm thinking: September: 12.8C and sunny, quite similar to Sep 2015 October: 8.7C and sunny, quite similar to Oct 2003 November: 5.3C and sunny, quite similar to Nov 2016 December: -1.3C and sunny, coldest December on record.. Of course, that's what I want and not realistic, so your predictions are probably closer to mine
  19. If only that was the chart for mid January, remarkable to see that in the height of summer. June really was a mean prank to those who love warmth, couldn't be any different this month.
  20. Yes I remember that day, coincided with the Jubilee weekend and oh my it was cold.. like a propers winter day you could see your breath and the rain made it feel like mid single digits. Never knew that could occur in summer. Other similar days in June where the temperature didn't exceed 12C were in 2019, and the 5th June 2022 which also coincided with the Jubilee weekend.. you'd find warmer days in January.
  21. That's quite the cool spell for early August.. never knew such persistent cool weather in the height of summer.
  22. GFS 6z and 12z couldn't be anymore different.. The first 'heatwave' chart I've seen since June.
  23. Reminds me a bit of August 2020 where we had nights at low single digits, never knew it could get that cold in late summer.
  24. This month has been worse than July 2012, can confidently say that as the outlook looks the same. We've only had 4 days exceed 20C this month and it's been much wetter. It didn't stop raining for nearly 48 hrs, have never experienced that in peak summer.
  25. This month looks to be wetter than July 2007 or 2012 by the projections.., guess no one saw that coming after such a warm dry June.
