  1. This autumn maybe up there with one of the worst I've experienced, hoping for a drastic change in the upcoming weeks.
  2. Two record breaking warm months this year - June and September. Concerning is an understatement.. but at least it's made an interesting view in the way of stats for this year.
  3. A few runs have turned colder, so quite unsure tbh. Still going for a milder October, changing to 12.1C and 105mm. Thanks
  4. Even if the CET comes in at 16.9C, it's still tied 1st place. 1st half of Sep 2023 with the second half of Sep 2011 would've resulted in a freakish CET for sure.
  5. So when is autumn actually going to arrive..? Can't wait for the first crisp, cool Autumn day.
  6. It will be both hilarious and interesting if September matches June's CET of 17.0. Plus they'll beat the previous place holder by 0.1C.
  7. The lack of cool Autumns has been quite astonishing really, you have to go back 30 years to see a cold one. Last autumn was the third mildest on record, and by the looks of things.. Autumn 2023 could be even warmer.
  8. The GFS really went from warm anticyclone to cyclogenesis. Complete flip on what was showing a few days prior.
  9. Honestly, I don't know what to think about Winter 23/24. So many conflicting signals makes me think it'll probably be mixed.. a bit like 2014/15 But there a part of me that feels like this winter will be special, perhaps a classic.. Ideally I'd want to see a cold January as that's where the best of the cold can occur, we are long overdue a cold February too. Heck, can all the winter months just be cold and seasonal.. for once
  10. Looks like the heat signal for the end of the month has faded away somewhat. Curious to know what the CET could be, perhaps mid to upper 16s. No chance of going below 16C.
  11. My thoughts exactly, the cold December spell last year didn't have much snow.. but the sunny frosty days made up for it. Beautiful spell of weather. I'd like to see more in the way of snow this winter, then a giant anticyclone over us.
  12. Quite rare to see single digit minima in October, the last time it happened was on 26th October 2019. It's way more common to see single digits in April. May 2021 saw more single digits than the October previous. The latest single digit minima into the year has to be the 3rd June 2012, at least for here. Max of 9C that day, was bizarre seeing the sunset at 9pm whilst feeling like mid-winter.
  13. Two very different GFS runs six hrs apart.. expect more wild swings in the upcoming days.
  14. I agree, nothing worse than a dank October. Give me clear skies throughout and I'll be more than pleased.
  15. Can't wait till the clocks change, an extra hour of sleep and lengthening nights is awesome. Love the sunsets on my commute back from uni. I can understand why some may detest it, and how it may exacerbate SAD. For those who do suffer from it I genuinely have my sympathies. Cold isn't for everyone, just how warmth isn't.
  16. So let me get this straight.. since July 2022 Warmest July day on record last year. 3rd warmest August last year. One of the warmest November's on record last year. One of the warmest February's on record. Warmest June on record. and now potentially the warmest September on record..I give up Not to mention June 2023, July 2022, August 2022 would've been the warmest summer on record.. Here's to the coldest October-March period on record (it will never happen).
  17. I wouldn't even consider February as cold anymore, feels more like the start of spring. February 2014, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023 were all exceptionally mild, with only 2018 and 2021 having cold spells.
  18. If it isn't cold during January, you better hope March is an absolute stonker.. just like how this September is turning out for warmth.
  19. You should see how busy it gets during winter. During the December cold spell you couldn't keep up, pages upon pages every minute
  20. 3C in the Highlands.. 17C here, feels quite cool in the wind.
  21. Crazy temperature gradients today, just 12C in Belfast and Edinburgh. 24C in London. North of Leeds will feel quite chilly, autumn has arrived for Scotland and Ireland.
  22. Quite cold nights for September, from pretty unremarkable synoptics. Wonder what the figures would be if we got a long fetch northerly, then a UK high.
