  1. Our climate is much worse than San Francisco. Yes, it may be unpleasantly cool with fog often during summer but they get much more sun and they can get random heatwaves at any time of year unlike here. Out of habitable climates only Iceland, Norway, Greenland, Alaska’s Aleutian Islands and the Scottish islands are worse than ours.
  2. I’ve noticed in this warmer spring nature is significantly ahead of last year. My lupins are fully out now and last year didn’t start blooming until the very end of May.
  3. It seems to be heating up next week ??It seems however there is never any record breaking heat in May compared to other months. What is the earliest and latest ever 30C in the U.K.?
  4. Today is the worst day in this half of April. It’s so cold (9C) and dull out, feels like winter again. I think the second half of April has been decent but it has slipped away within the last couple of days.
  5. 2013 was a very interesting year for weather. March and July were the stand outs. In general very similar to 2018. I remember the January being cold and snowy. Our school closed halfway through the day because of snow on Friday 18 January and it was closed on Monday 21 January. The February was cold with lighter snowfalls. March was one of the most memorable. I went to Wales and there were huge icicles hanging from cliffs in mountains and the snow was like being abroad! A bitter month. April to June I remember as being cool but not that prominent. July was fantastic. It was the first time I remember seeing such a hot summer and a parched landscape. At that age I was used to the rubbish summers of 2007-12 and a lengthy heatwave was something I’d never experienced (I barely remember 2006). Thursday 1 August was a scorcher, I remember playing at the park with my siblings and Nan in the heat. After that, autumn 2013 ushered in a lengthy mild and wet period and we didn’t really get any more extreme weather on a similar level until 2018.
  6. We’ve been lucky with Easters over the last few years. This is the third one since 2019 which has been sunny and warm. Only last year’s wasn’t that good. Also recorded my first temperature above 20C today at 21C.
  7. This is your typical issue every spring/summer or even autumn. Every time it seems there’s a warm spell, there’s always just too much cloud to enjoy it. The dullness is the worst thing about our climate.
  8. So bored of this bland weather Friday looks like the only good day now and after that is looks boring and bland again. I bet May will be the same.
  9. It’s cold and windy here but it’s worse in northern France and Germany. It’s full blown winter like snow there and maybe an ice day in spots!
  10. Also how chalk and cheese April 2011 and April 2012 were and February 2018 and February 2019!
  11. On and off heavy snow showers all day here Like others have said, there’s no settlement. I wish this could have been 3 months ago! I wonder if we’re going to have to wait until summer to see any nice weather?
  12. The weather’s looking absolutely abhorrent next week with even heavy snow on Thursday. Not only that the cold has expanded well into April. I don’t have a problem with a short cold spell (it’s spring not summer after all) but it’s when there’s no sign of it ending that’s the depressing part.
  13. Beautiful day today. Very mild and sunny and remaining that way all throughout next week. I wonder if there is a link between mild wet Februaries and warm dry springs. Februaries 2007, 2011, 2014, 2020 and 2022 were very mild/mild and/or very wet/wet and then the Springs of 2007, 2011 and 2020 were fantastic. 2014 was decent too although not dry and not as good as the others. March 2022 is now shaping up to be mild and sunny around here. I hope 2022 follows this trend ??
  14. The warmth seems to have downgraded somewhat but it’s still looking dry, sunny and milder than average apart from Sunday which looks chilly. I hope we don’t end up going cold again in April like last year.
  15. I’ve had tall daffodils in bloom since January 31 and my tête-à-tête daffodils are opening now. I also have hyacinths in full bloom along with snowdrops and crocus. The mildness of this winter hasn’t affected the timing of flowers at all as during last year’s cold winter they flowered at the exact same time.
  16. We’ve just had a sudden bout of snow! It only lasted about 10 minutes and it it melting away. It’s the warmest snowfall I can recall as it was 6C when it started and now has dropped to 3C.
  17. It felt very springlike today when I went outside. Very mild and most of my daffodils are out now so it adds to the spring feel.
  18. Yeah I remember that. I was at school and we had snow showers too after it raining almost everyday on the way to school. Then exactly a year later on 29-30 January 2015 it happened again and settled. I wouldn’t say it was better than 28 November 2021’s snow though and we had a few flakes on 6/7 January 2022.
  19. Today’s sunny afternoon will really help to make the daylight lengthening seem more prominent. It’s not as easy to notice when it’s dull.
  20. I’ve just had a downpour of hail despite no forecast of any precipitation. Apart from that it’s a cold sunny and breezy day. The forecast seems up and down over the ext week or so.
  21. It goes back further than 2014, Summer 2013 was dry, March 2012, Spring 2011 and Spring 2010.
  22. It has been snowing heavily for an hour here and just starting to settle. Didn’t expect it.
  23. After a continuously foggy December it’s turning out to be a very sunny January. It’s going to be a hard freeze tonight.
  24. As much as I was hoping for snow before, it has been a great sunny day and the mildest on record for New Years Eve and I’ve enjoyed the springlike weather.
  25. Absolutely abysmal Christmas and second half of December in general. It has been dismal, wet and near constantly foggy. I can’t remember the last time I saw sun. The temperature has been up and down. It was cold yesterday and Wednesday but very mild last week and this week coming up.
