  1. Looks like the current streamers is aimed at the River Dee... i wouldnt be surprised if the streamer mkes a quick alteration to its alignment skipping Wirral. Happens alot. We watch our welsh neighbours get heavy snow, then look over to our north as events in North liverpool, South Manchester explode into life. Cant be not grateful with last nights showers, but I get the feeling given the current radar activity, that Wirral will miss the rest out now - despite on paper being in the middle of the higher risk zone
  2. Weve had about 1-1.5" of snow overnight. From recollection this is probably the biggest snowfall for about 6 or 7 yrs for this area. Maybe longer. Potentially over 10 yrs. Grass still not covered though...
  3. Moderate to heavy snow here Very rare this... to get snow shower from a northwesterly.. usually graupal
  4. Lots of shower activity way out to the northwest... just starting to wake up in the irish sea as the air flow feeds
  5. That fell the night if my xmas party in town. 18th dec was it? We had about 2 or 3 inches in the city centre (was at san carlo in liverpool) and had about 1-2 inches in wirral. Got text messages from my friends in northern merseyside about these 20cm falls... another miss for my snow history Heres one for you- i cant remember a fall say in the last maybe 15 -20 yrs that gave us a covering that completley covered the grass. How about that? Maybe 2006 was the last decent fall?
  6. Classic setup for "a covering of hail in my flower pots" i cant remember a time when this has delivered well for us. Its usually south and east of the m56 that does best
  7. Odd... temp hasnt budged much and DP is still below 0. However i ran about 8.30 and everything was frozen and slippy. In the last hr everything has gone wet and brown. Despite it being "dry"
  8. Weather station says im just on the right side of marginal for snow. Radar says ita green/blue echoes over me. Reality is, its dry and windy
  9. Meto has me as light snow for tomorrow morning for a few hours Same on Sunday
  10. Down to -6.7*c for my back garden, balmy compared to the previous nights. Ice has started to take on a whole new look, as crystals have now started to erupt from long standing ice / slush patches. Also - seems like there is more slight coating of black ice about on pavements and roads this morning, despite being dry for nearly a week. Felt very slippery out - despite dry floors (you can see slight shimmering on the tarmac) Ill try and get a photo of the ice crystals that have formed, but theyre on everything and protrude about 1-2cms. Ironically deeper than any snow weve had for maybe 2 yrs?
  11. Depends where in the garden though. On one side it can stay frosty in 4*C... on the other ive had bedding plants survive a winter with frosts as its sheltered. My garden isnt big either.
  12. -7.2*c last night. The coldest temp ive ever recorded on my station which I bought in 2018... one month after TBFTE. I believe we had lower temps when that hit - I think double digit low temps
  13. Im keeping a keen eye on that.... wonder how far north the mild gets
  14. I think so long as your station doesnt move around, then compare apples with apples, and if youre after proper readings, zoom out and compare to others in the local vicinity to get a better idea of average. Unless you do things properly - you need a good acre or so of land, or a paddock to do things properly to avoid influence from man made objects. My station sits 2.4 metres up, bolted to my shed, so takes a lot of warming from my shed roof in the summer. It also is near a willow, so is sheltered from alot of northerly winds. However, despite all this does track temps fairly well Station here
  15. Temp has crept up from -5*c yesterday to 0 right now, ben creeping up 0.1*c every other hour since yesterday morning. Must be the cloud cover. Frost/Ryme still holding off but is sublimating/melting.
  16. Given the heights to our south, its unlikly to swing in our favour. However, theres plenty time and enough runs for this to change. Probably the best wintry run up to Xmas since 2010
