Looks like the current streamers is aimed at the River Dee... i wouldnt be surprised if the streamer mkes a quick alteration to its alignment skipping Wirral. Happens alot. We watch our welsh neighbours get heavy snow, then look over to our north as events in North liverpool, South Manchester explode into life. Cant be not grateful with last nights showers, but I get the feeling given the current radar activity, that Wirral will miss the rest out now - despite on paper being in the middle of the higher risk zone

That fell the night if my xmas party in town. 18th dec was it? We had about 2 or 3 inches in the city centre (was at san carlo in liverpool) and had about 1-2 inches in wirral. Got text messages from my friends in northern merseyside about these 20cm falls... another miss for my snow history Heres one for you- i cant remember a fall say in the last maybe 15 -20 yrs that gave us a covering that completley covered the grass. How about that? Maybe 2006 was the last decent fall?

Down to -6.7*c for my back garden, balmy compared to the previous nights. Ice has started to take on a whole new look, as crystals have now started to erupt from long standing ice / slush patches. Also - seems like there is more slight coating of black ice about on pavements and roads this morning, despite being dry for nearly a week. Felt very slippery out - despite dry floors (you can see slight shimmering on the tarmac) Ill try and get a photo of the ice crystals that have formed, but theyre on everything and protrude about 1-2cms. Ironically deeper than any snow weve had for maybe 2 yrs?

I think so long as your station doesnt move around, then compare apples with apples, and if youre after proper readings, zoom out and compare to others in the local vicinity to get a better idea of average. Unless you do things properly - you need a good acre or so of land, or a paddock to do things properly to avoid influence from man made objects. My station sits 2.4 metres up, bolted to my shed, so takes a lot of warming from my shed roof in the summer. It also is near a willow, so is sheltered from alot of northerly winds. However, despite all this does track temps fairly well Station here
